I just picked up this little gem and wanted to share it with you all. :) It is an Amiga 3500 that was in use at Commodore as an internal UUCP server.

It has four SCSI hard drives and two SCSI CD-ROM drives.

A guy here in town had it in his garage and posted an ad to get rid of it. I got it for nothing.

s00p's Amiga 3500

Some guys are just too lucky. I´ve been trying to make a similar find myself for some time now. I have kept an eye on some local second hand stores to see if they sell any used Amigas at a low prize but the best I have gotten hold of so far is an A500 with a bad PSU...

An A3500 is a mighty fine find... let me know if you find any more that you don't need and I'll help you dispose of them. :)

Too bad you're site seem to be hacked, would love to see some pictures of the beauty.

I wish I was able to get the case for an A3500. A year or so ago I blew up the motherboard for my A3000T and was desperate enough to buy an A3500 motherboard (without the customer chip installed). I was fortunate enough to find another A3000T before tackling the project of getting the chips into the 3500 motherboard. Although I do still have it kicking around.

I had never heard of a 3500 until I found this motherboard at centsible computers. Then I did a little research...too bad they didn't distribute more of them.

The power switch is in the off position so the thing won't power up. I need to tinker with it.. but ever so carefully. :)

I am going to login and see what kind of Commodore goodies I can find. :)

@gdanko

Thread moved to Amiga Q&A. More appropriate to have this thread listed in that forum than in Amiga News.

Oh BTW, happy computing!

Lucky, lucky, lucky! Nice find

I'm impressed to see two video out ports on the back - 15KHz and 31KHz. Wish that they could have done that with more of the Amiga range.

Anyone know what the "Disable" bit (switch? button?) does - what gets disabled??

@Chunder

The 3000 series has a built-in scan doubler (Amber) to turn the 15KHz LoRes and HiRes modes into 31KHz for the VGA port. The 'disable' switch turns off the scan doubler so you can use SuperHiRes (a 31KHz mode) directly.

-EDIT-
Note to self: Learn to open the manual before answering!

SuperHiRes is a 15KHz mode, it just has double the number of pixels across. The 'Display Enhancer' circuitry (i.e. Amber) can't handle the pixel clock rate so would only show every other pixel. You disable it to show all pixels.

The 31KHz mode is called Productivity mode and is 640x480. The Display Enhancer handles this properly when enabled.
-End EDIT-

I will try to reverse the wires on the key switch so that it can be powered on while in the locked position. This should be safe, right? :)
