Just got my SAM460 yesterday and having great joy installing some treasured software, downloaded Timberwolf but it wont install, get lots of errors, anyone else had this or is there a way to install that you know of?

For now using OWB which is very good but has a few bugs, good to use a browser on the Amiga that so far all sites I have visited work just fine!

@op

Its just a case of duplicating the listed sobjs in the sobjs drawer and renaming them to match. Once you have done this try again.

@sicky

check the integrity of the downloaded Install file.

I have found the drawer SObjs within OS4.1 partition, does this need renaming or moving elsewhere?

When I attempt to install I get the following messages:

"Failed to load shared object libz.so"

followed by

"Required Object is missing"

followed by

"Failed to load shared object libpython25.so"

followed by

"Required Object is missing"

followed by

"Unable to open your tool 'Installation Utility'"

@sicky

exactly the problem I had...:

quoted from thread given above:

Ok, here we go...

somehow libz.so was missing, copied that one over from upd1 and reinstalled upd2, voiila it works. I thought libz.so.1.2.3 was libz.so ? Anyway editing text in timberwolf is really slow, but looking good anyway.

Thanx everybody envolved

@sicky

There should be a file similarly named:

libpython25.so

Just make a duplicate copy of it and rename the duplicate to the above and repeat with the other files which are missing.

@sicky

Throw in your OS4.1 CD can copy the missing files over from there. From what I remember, the SObjs drawer on the CD had some files that weren't on my harddrive. I'm not sure but I think there might be a problem with the OS4.1 installation that fails to copy these files over. Once I got the the two drawers to match everything worked fine.

Sounds like you're missing update 2. Python 2.5 was part of update 2. Open a shell & type python, you should see the following.

7.RAM Disk:> python
Python 2.5.5 (r255:1.2, Mar 27 2010, 21:00:30)
[GCC 4.2.4 (adtools build 20090118)] on ppc-amiga
Type "help", "copyright", "credits" or "license" for more information.

As far as the SObjs directory, just leave it as is.

Edit: I asked ssolie about the 460 install CD & he said it was at update 2.

I did this and now the installer works and I have Timberwolf installed

It's very buggy but it does look good and works...... sort of!

Thanks for the help guys, that's what the Amiga community is all about
