@Rogue

Congratulations! As a software guy, I know how good it feels to go gold on a project (especially one that takes years from start to finish!). Best of luck in the marketplace.

From the announcement on Hyperion's web site:
Quote:
Hyperion Entertainment once again wishes to thank its loyal customers for their business and support.

Thanks for delivering ONCE AGAIN! You guys simply DO it.

Day in, day out, I enjoy using my Micro since I bought it in December 2004. I hope that more OS4.0 owners and users will join in that joy. Unfortunately I do not have a classic with a PPC-expansion, only a Blizzard 1240, otherwise I would buy it without raising a question.

Keep on going!

The list contains Zorro and PCI boards and AFAIK its possible to expand
an A1200 with Zorro or PCI slots.

IIRC a betatester reported that the Prelude1200 clockport soundcard
does produce sound but that the CPU load goes up to 100 percent or something like that.

In the compatiblety list is positively listed a Voodoo 3000 GFX card together with a Mediator PCI board. I`m using a Voodo4500 but this is not listed at all. Does that mean that it will not run with AmigaOS4 or that it hasn`t been tested yet?

How likely is it that my Voodoo4500 will work?

Thanks for answering this (possibly stupid) question.

I'm pleased to see that (with barely a week to go) it seems Amiga Inc aren't going to contest the release of OS4 for Classic. Go Hyperion

There's a slight error in the press release.

It states that there will be a compatibility list at A^3's page, but that is already up since a week back.

Just thought I'd let people know.

The press release on the Hyperion site is dated the 23RD October

@nexus

It will probably work but nobody has tested it yet. I'm 100% sure that it will work.

This version is for Classics only. It only contains a kernel that works on classic machines, and only contains drivers for classic machines.

What about OS4 itself, are the components parts newer versions of those currently released for the A1. If so can they be used on an A1. i.e. is this a way for me to update OS4 on my A1 and support Hyperion at the same time.

Some of the components are indeed newer than those on the latest A1 release (for example, AmigaInput is included again), and I don't see any major issue with copying them over to an A1. The only exceptions being those modules that are tied to the hardware, i.e. drivers etc.
EDIT: Oh yeah, and there might be some of them relying on a newer kernel; the kernel, however, does not run on the A1. I can't say whether this is true, though, for any of the components.

Eventually, these components will be released for the A1 version also, but I cannot give a timeframe for that yet.

I'm not a Classic PPC owner, but hey! These are really good news!

So let's offer another pint to Hyperion. They surely deserve it!

Good point. Will the OS4 version (and ongoing one) of Audio Evolution be able to work on OS4 classic? Since it works in 16-bit.

What zorro sound card is supported in A1200 ? All is listen on A4000 or 3000, some reason why ? I need 16bit sound, paula is good for old stuff, but not for full quality.

Terratec 128i PCI Prometheus/Mediator YES On Mediator A1200 still some problems - What is still some problem ?

I had a Voodoo 5000 in my classic (when it was still working fully :| ), and that worked. Both 5000 and 4500 use the Napalm chipset, so the 4500 should work, too
