OK, stupid question time.

I've got Amiga Forever 5 installed on my laptop, how do I upgrade things to use this new WinUAE? Or should I wait for an EUAE update to this rev? or is Amiga Forever locked to whatever UAE version it comes with?

ok,don't flame me, but,

i own a a1200, would like to use winuae, how can i get the kickstart?

can´t be ilegal, since i really own an AMIGA?

There are some kickstart extractors on Aminet, but I'd recommend you buy the newest Amiga Forever 2005 since it contains all the kickstarts, plus some great videos and some other stuff. :)

Agreed, going with AF5 is the best option considering the Amiga you do have.

The best Kickstart ROM to use with any flavor of UAE is the A500/A2000 one, or possibly the A1000 one. That's because there was no custom hardware in those Amigas that was not also in any other Amiga ever made. All the other Amigas had some kind of additional stuff that was semi-unique to that model, which will cause the Amiga to hang during initialization when it tries to set up that hardware when it isn't present. UAE doesn't emulate anything like the A1200 IDE interface, or the A3000's SCSI controller, so would hang just like a real Amiga would if you managed to (for example) stick an A3000's ROM into an A500. That A500 would hang once it got to trying to initialize one of the A3000-unique parts, like the SCSI or the scandoubler.

Or like I found out once on my A3000 before the CSPPC card died I had in it. One time I was trying to fix something else in it and had the SCSI chip out for some reason. Tried to boot it up that way, and it just hangs on startup. No colored screen even! Just a pure, unadulterated hang.

So if you don't have an A500/A1000/A2000 ROM, you might as well by Amiga Forever, which has that ROM on it.
