Announcement   Announcement : Amigabounty is back online.
   posted by Troels on 30-Nov-2008 18:27:55 (4206 reads)
After a long time Amigabounty.net is finally back online!
The new site is containing lots of new features thanks to the bounty engine created by Orgin. The site is fully functional but still in Beta.

Amigabounty is focused 100% on AmigaOS4 software development and we welcome everybody to submit ideas for new bounties on the website.

New team member is Cyborg (Costel Mincea).

Best Regards
Troels, www.amigabounty.net

A bit of information on the existing bounties.

Sputnik:
In the last email I got from Marcin he said he was sorry for the delay and that a Sputnik release should happen this December.
I have just asked for a progress report and will post that on the site as soon as Marcin replies.

Allegro:
Colin who is working on the Allegro port recently said "It's basically finished and I was ready to release it, but found some last minute problems on OS4.1 and haven't had a chance to fix it - I'm just too busy at work!
But hopefully in the next couple of weeks it will be done. "

So both Sputnik and Allegro should be out this Christmas, finally

@Aminicle
Please go to amigabounty.net to suggest new bounties but keep in mind that Amigabounty is AmigaOS4 only. AROS and Morphos both have their own bounty sites.

As most projects are probably going to be open source my hope is that all Amiga(like) systems will benefit from the bounties

A bounty to see a new up-to-date version of E-UAE would be nice.

Certain bounties would gain a lot more interest if they are ment for all the flavors ... especially the one for an updated EUAE with 68k to PPC jit.
And why don't you make your website, a cross(amiga)platform one ... In my opinion that's something that is really needed and a step closer to coöperation between red-blue and black.

I guess it has to start somewhere, so I will propose it on Amigabounties then.

@Aminicle

If one of the conditions of a 68k to PPC JIT bounty was that it had to be open source then it would benefit all PPC systems eventually.

How can you demand it to be open source when you start the bounty on an OS4.x only bounty website ?

And I don't think it's that motivating for a dev that he has to give away his source after all his hard work, when he only is getting a bounty for making it OS4-compatibel version.... why shouldn't he wait untill a bounty is started on Morphzone or as such ? ...

@ Aminicle

One of the terms for a bounty could be that it was open source. It would be up to the developer whether the bounty is big enough to accept such terms.

-We are not against open source in any way (quite the opposite actually).
-We can't open all suggested bounties as there are not enough developers in the community for that.
-We will try to prioritize so the bounties are something developers also have great interest in (see f.ex. the suggested wxWidgets bounty.)

Bye'
Troels
