Well done! 
I've repeated the benchmarks that revealed a certain permormance drop a while ago (you should remember) and the results are that this version fixes entirely also that problem (for completeness, I'm referring to just blitting in system memory blitting by means of the static library)

No fault against afxgroup, I appreciate the port very much, just SDL itself is slow and bloated.

SDL isn't slow. Some things that use SDL are slow, but thats not SDL's fault.
