software OS4   software OS4 : New releases of Hurrican and Wazp3D
   posted by K-L on 31-Jul-2012 8:56:18 (3916 reads)
The French Amiga Team produly presents a new release of Hurrican along a new version of Wazp3D.

Indeed, Hugues 'HunoPPC' Nouvel and Alain Thellier have worked together in order to give you the opportunity to play this new release of Hurrican on any AmigaOS 4.1 computer.

This new version of Hurrican (1.0.0.7) adds some new features (ScreenSaverEngine is now disabled when playing, code has been cleaned up, a sprite menu selector has been added,...) and is provided with a Waz3D configuration file for Amigans using Radeon HD cards.

Regarding Wazp3D, Compositing2D rendering has been enhanced and now supports transparency (you can now see in water and menus are highlighted) and adds a basic points/lines drawing. Other games will also benefit from this new release.

Hurrican 1.0.0.7 is in the upload queue of OS4Depot at the moment.

You can get Wazp3D Beta 53.2 on Aminet

Does this mean that also works on an Amiga classic 4.1? (with Radeon 9250 and 256 mb ram)

I'd agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

I tried Wazp3D on my X1000 and while it's good enough to allow using Blender with my Radeon HD 4670, I've spotted some issues with the minigl demos:

PickDepth displays the colored rectangles in reveresed order, e.g. the yellow one should be in the fron but it ends up in the back of the stack so it's reading the Z values backwards.

The Warp demo doesn't blend the black edges of the "star" brush that sits in the back, possibly some setting or the Z issue above.

The Alpha3D demo renders the sphere almost completely transparent.

The fullscreen demo doesn't show the squares.

All in all the minigl demos provide a good test case to spot incompatibilites or wrong settings.

Hello

Remenber that renderer:Compositing2D use graphics.library's CompositeTags() that dont have
1) Zbuffer
2) Coloring functions like GL_MODULATE
3) texture repeat effect (wallpaper effect)
etc...
So using this option will only works well for simple 2D games like Hurrican

This is not a Wazp3D bug but only a CompositeTags() limitation :-/

If you want full Warp3D support then you must use renderer:SoftPPc to bitmap
... much slower
