software OS4   software OS4 : Homebank 4.4 for AmiCygnix released
posted by CygnusEd on 14-Jul-2012 9:26:52 (239834 reads)
HomeBank is a manager for your personal accounts. It is designed to easy to use. Analyse your personal finance in detail using powerful filtering tools and graphs.

Up to version 3.1 Homebank was developed for AmigaOS. Unfortunately Maxime left the Amiga community and now it is only available for Windows and Linux.

Old files of the amiga version can be imported!

I've been using HomeBank 3.2 beta1 for a LONG time, since 2004 actually. It's a nice program to use, but became somewhat limited by the bugs that still exist in this version.

Thanks for this port Edgar, I've resisted installing AmiCygnix upto now, but I think now will be the time. Thanks again for this port - I'll give it a whirl.

This looks good!

I was using DeskTop Budget for a long time until an OS update (3.9?) banished DTB to the dust bin of history. That Canadian company (Gold Disk?) had already left the scene so there was not any updates for DTB to fix whatever was broken.

I eventually bought a 2nd hand Gates Crate so I could run Quicken. I don't know if I can change from Quicken now. I remember trying out HomeBank ages ago. I do prefer using AmigaOS for everything I can.

I'd agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

Yes, I know what you mean. But from a developers point of view I can understand his decision. Supporting Linux and Windows means: More users, better development tools and - I must admit - coding an application with GTK+ is much easier than with Reaction or MUI.

Homebank supports the import of Quicken files, but I don't know how good this works. Just try it and if not, there is also an uninstall script

Wow! I didn't know that. Sure, I'll be checking it out.

As far as I can tell, you need to export your data from Quicken. It will create the needed .QIF file for importing into Homebank. I don't use Quicken, so I need to ask my wife to look at the import results and see if they're useable or not.

Edgar,

when using homebank on my Cygnix setup, I've lost the mouse cursor three times now. Not knowing a keyboard shortcut for getting out of Cygnix and back to workbench, I've hard rebooted from the case switch to get going again. Is this a bug?

Paul

I've never heard about this problem. Maybe another tool running in the background is responsible for this??
Anyway, you can stop the X server with the key combination "LAmiga + RAmiga + Q".
