my words exactly, lol;)

Hell no! RA+M is plain wrong. The shortcut is placed in the wrong direction of the keyboard because it forces you to use the right hand thus leaving the mouse again, then picking it up, then leaving it, then picking i up etc._________________

I plan to give WinBar.docky a go shortly and I will also take a look at the settings you mentioned too and see if it helps me out.
@all
It seems the ALT-TAB thing I mentioned in my review got some feedback from people who prefer other methods of switching applications.
Personally, I think it is great that people have different views of what works best for them for switching applications - ClickToFront, Expose style, multiple desktops, Amiga-N/M, etc. I think it is safe to say that none of these methods is wrong, but just what people prefer to use day to day that works for them best.
In my case I prefer to use ALT-TAB, and I am glad I can now do that on the X1000. I find that I do use ClickToFront from time to time too.
I also installed software mode 3d wazp library today on the X1000 and confirmed it does allow some opengl games (TuxRacer, Warzone 2100) to run now on the X1000, but somewhat buggy and inconsistent, as the Wazp3D readme indicated it would be. As with another thread I found from another user, I also noticed that OpenGL software does run quite slowly in composite2d mode, especially the boing ball screen saver. At least it runs now, which it didn't before, but very slow. I guess I will just have to be patient for the 3d driver to give us the hardware OpenGL support on the X1000.
I might put a few more games on and say how they run with the new library. Does anyone know if there a compatibility list of games that are confirmed to work well with wazp 3d library on AmigaOS 4?
One more X1000 question - is it possible to run two monitors off the X1000 for a multiple monitor workbench?

Yeah... another example of third-party software being relied upon when it should act like that as standard. _________________

>a compatibility list of games that are confirmed to work well with wazp 3d library on AmigaOS 4?
There is no list as I dont have much games on my sam440 to try on Wazp3D/Composite2D mode:
WipeOut : works well but crash (not wazp3d related)
Giddy: works 100% need "hack texs: no safe
GlExcess demo = partially works
Glglobe = works
Blender = works 100% but with renderer:soft to bitmap+ perpective:no
Quake & Lugaru works but too ugly to be playable . Quake use texture-repeat feature this will be patched in next release. Both games use a zbuffer but as composite2d mode dont have a zbuffer those games will only works in software mode (so too slow)
FPSE (playstation emulator) works well with some glitches (the gpuw3d.dll for os4 will need a fix to implement w3d_flush() like the aros and os3 versions ==> ask Amidog the FPSE author )
Tuxkart: dont works because it use a zbuffer Also TuxKart is too slow = certainly this port got a conception problem
Certainly a lot of 2D SDL/OpenGL games (that dont use a zbuffer) should works too

This game compatibility information for Wazp3D usage on OS4 is very helpful - thanks for this!

Thanks for your kind words about the review.
I try to convey the real experiences as a new AmigaOne X1000 user - the good and the bad parts, as I try stuff out and make the most of the new Amiga hardware I finally have!
@All
Today I have updated my blog with a new entry about using DosBox on the X1000, some config tips and performance expectations and results...I hope it is interesting to read!

10000 CPU cycles? 80486DX 33 MHz performance.
Could you do please some little tests for me? (my post 57)
About Windows 95: DosBox can boot this OS from filedisks (it is also much more safe than using regular directory tree). However, W95 needs more compatible CPU core than normal - eg. dynamic CPU core emulation which is not available for PowerPC versions. |

Try anything more sophisticated (eg. games, MS Office) with normal core emulation and you will see...
I was able to boot W95 with normal core in DosBox and even run some small applications (WordPad), but nearly all my games and applications refused to work. |
