Just FYI; found on Hyperion Forum:

"A short clip showing the first XORRO prototyping board fitted in an AmigaOne X-1000 Nemo mainboard, with XENA (the XMOS processor) toggling its I/Os to make some LEDs flash."

Youtube.

Make it control something the size of a jumbotron and I'll be very impressed!

Its a bit unclear why external card on X1000 board (with XENA bus again?) but lets say that they do test PCI card for older A1s, Pegs and SAMs ...

Controlling LED is not a very convincing test, even God said "let there be light"

Wonder does the "Ultimate" burns faster

because all the I/Os of the XMOS chip are routed to a PCI slot connector. If you want use the XMOS chipd for external connections you must have a card fitting into this connector (Called XENA by A-Eon)

what im a little puzzled about is why they need an external xmos board stuck in there. cant x1k onboard xmos chip controll xorro slot??

I told it in many threads before, the XMOS is an I/O chip not a number cruncher, all its i/Os are available on the so called Xorro bus, you will need a board if you want to use the I/Os.

Yes, but question is why is this needed: (Edited to frame grab from video)
http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg13/scaled.php?server=13&filename=secondxmos.png&res=medium

Why not use the onboard XMOS? Sure, the XMOS utilities are not yet ported to OS4, but Linux is and the tools exist on Linux. So why have this second XMOS dev board plugged in at all? What is it doing that the onboard XMOS cannot?

Listening and replying.

Not much of a Xorro test to have Xena talking to herself.

@jorkany

The extra xmos belongs to jtag-usb adapter that is needed when you need to debug xena and program it without aos4 version of xmos sdk.

@KimmoK

you think nemo board was debugged by varisys using os4? that would be seriously orthodox i think. i would rather bet for some linux distro that has been reported to be running on it.
its a little difficult to clearly see but ram banks of the nemo board seem not to be populated. unclear for me, if that board run any system at all while this demonstartion is performed.

It looks like you're right.

If there is no RAM the there can't be anything running. Maybe first first of verifying and testing the expansion board is to test it independently from the rest of the hardware.

I think we need a detailed explanation from one of the Varisys engineers.

Eh? Those chips have internal memory for programs.

Seriously. Why am I bothering with this community at all? The amount of crap spewed out daily in forums here is beyond my wildest imaginations.

@olegil

you mean either os4 or linux can be run directly on xmos? ;P
i mean i wonder what state is the nemo board while this presentation. is it just initialized as far as bios/uboot and just supplying the current to the bus or what? because without ram it is rather doubtful it runs any kind of os. so this might be a merely presentation, that this regular xmos unit visible on video can be sticked onto nemo board and its signals may be forwarded to the so called xorro slot. in this case everything it demonstrates is, that the xorro bus is electrically functional, isnt it? as there is no explanation it is difficult to judge.

Ignore the trolls, they don't even understand what we're talking about.

Can't wait to get my hands on one and see how fast we can make it run. It would be good to get hold of some developer-programmable hardware - something we haven't been able to buy for twenty years or so.

I think I may have been a little unclear. Wawa was referring referring to the DDR slots so I meant there couldn't have been an OS running on the main system therefore only the X1000's XMOS subsystem and the new expansion card were being tested at that time.

I assume there are benefits to doing initial tests with as few variables as possible

I look forward seeing more info on the board. Maybe it will something I'll want to put in my own X1000.
