Ultima-inspired RPG for the C64 in the works, Amiga-version considered! |
| Amigaworld.net News posted by Petah on 16-Jan-2017 20:32:05 (1923 reads) |
Closing early this coming Wednesday morning (January 19th), the ongoing Kickstarter campaign aiming to create a brand new roleplaying game for the Commodore 64 (with PC and Macintosh versions to follow) in vein of the beloved Ultima-series, Unknown Realm: The Siege Perilous has been an astounding success so far, breaking it's set goal of $65 536 by well over 150%! The two man-and-woman team behind the game - Stirring Dragon Games - are personal friends of non other than AmigaOS developer Robert J. "RJ" Mical and, to no one's surprise, big fans of the Amiga platform. In case the Commodore 64 and PC/Mac versions turns out to be as popular as the Kickstarter sugggests, an Amiga version may be in the works! In order to get there, though, the fundraiser needs your support - so consider stepping by its Kickstarter and pledge to get the game in either format. Digital download reward pledges begin at $19 USD, and physical reward pledges at $49 USD (however, the edition you really want to get is the Collector's Edition - the number of copies are limited, so they are expected to be much sought after items!).
Users shooting for the higher tier pledges will be rewarded with physical copy of the game stored on a custom made cartridge, packed in a physical box with a manual, a cloth map, quest cards and several other "feelies". Stretch goals not currently reached include music by respected chiptune compositor Chris Hülsbeck, whose discography includes the Amiga scores from the Amiga versions of R-Type and the Turrican triology! Anyone interested will find a game trailer on Youtube.

| News posted by RobertB on 14-Jan-2017 20:25:58 (1263 reads) |
Happy New Year, C= and Ami aficionados!
The Fresno Commodore User Group has its next meeting from 11 a.m. to 2+ p.m., Sunday, Dec. 18 at --
Bobby Salazar's Mexican Restaurant 2839 North Blackstone Ave. (corner of Blackstone and Michigan) Fresno, California (559) 227-1686
For discussion, we'll talk about June Pacific Commodore Expo NW and the July Commodore Vegas Expo. Also we will peek at the .PDF of "Commodore: the Amiga Years" which is the follow-up to the book, "Commodore: a Company on the Edge". This .PDF not only talks about Amiga but also the fabled Commodore 65, the Commodore 900, and the Commodore LCD.
It seems that a couple of C=/Ami movies are being released at the moment. For your viewing enjoyment, we look at part one of "Viva Amiga: The Story of a Beautiful Machine".
We aren't forgetting hardware; in addition to the usual club C128 set-up, the VIC-20 returns with more games as does the AmigaOne XE G4. Also for club member Louis, we'll try out an Amiga 2000 with OS 3.1, 2 gig SCSI hard drive, and 4 megs of Fast RAM.

The WArMUp Association launches a big bounty to boost development on MorphOS (ports or native development). The developers can propose project(s) would like to realize or port.
MorphOS users can realize a donation using the "Donate" button placed in the Bounty box of WArMUp site or "send money to a friend" to warmup.asso@gmail.com to limit paypal taxes mentioning the name or type of project they would like to see happen on MorphOS.
The list of projects already available and amounts are available on www.warmup-asso.org. The donor can at any time move the amount he has given to another project if the one he has chosen is not realisable or he no longer likes it by writing to the address papiosaur2 at hotmail.fr. If a developer don't have hardware to realize a project, the association can provide him with one (shipping costs to him). It's up to you to boost development on MorphOS.

Alain Thellier has released a new version of Cow3D which now has support for Warp3D Nova.
The latest version 6 is available to download on Aminet.
Cow3D is a benchmarking and testing tool for 3D on the Amiga. It also supports the older Warp3D and Warz3D software renderer.
Alain has included the Shader source code in the package for Warp3D Nova which is the first 3D software to support modern Shaders on AmigaOS. Now users have the ability to compare and contrast between old fixed pipeline 3D systems such as Warp3D and the new modern Warp3D Nova.
