Amigaworld.net News   Only the Amiga Makes it Possible
Amigaworld.net News posted by tekmage on 22-Jul-2015 5:59:39 (1741 reads)
This will be my final update for the Amiga 30th event at the Computer History Museum.

There is so much content, so much, it's overwhelming. The things we have planned are insane and might not even be possible in the future. If you can get to the museum this weekend but where not planning too, I highly recommend you make the trip. We have so many surprises, so many unique things, so many of the original engineers. I'm past selling the show, so you'll just have to come and check it out.

I mentioned we are going to stream the show. We are going to try. We hit a snag with the internet at the museum which give us great doubt about the quality of the connection. We ever I will try to make it happen but I'm warning people now. When we started the kickstarter we needed $12,000 to guarantee streaming. If we got a few thousand in donation ticket sales on the eventbright page in the next 24 to 48 hours we might be able to get what we need to pull it off. Otherwise I can't make any promises at this point.

The website will be updated with the official schedule tomorrow or Thursday. If you are coming to the event doors will open to registration at 9:45 AM Saturday. Show starts at 10 AM.

I'm sad to inform everyone that Stephen Harvey-Brooks, aka Mequa, passed away on July 3rd due to complications during an operation to change a pacemaker. He was a member of most Amiga related websites and known in this community for the cross-platform AMOS BASIC interpreter, XAMOS.

software OS4   Workbench CANDI Prefs utility released on AMIStore
software OS4 posted by amigakit on 15-Jul-2015 16:01:00 (4197 reads)
Workbench CANDI Prefs utility
A new preferences tool for Workbench CANDI

Cardiff 14th July 2015
A-EON Technology Ltd is pleased to introduce CANDI Prefs, a new simple but powerful preferences utility for Workbench CANDI.

Workbench CANDI introduced the world of composite desktop animation to the AmigaOS. Utilising the power of the hardware compositing engine built into the RadeonHD drivers, CANDI totally integrates with the AmigaOS Workbench and uses the graphics card's GPU to deliver smooth Workbench animations without compromising hardware performance.

Whether it's wispy clouds with a rotating Boing Ball or shimmering, silvery bubbles gently floating upwards and over a retro Amiga Copper background, the CANDI animation effects are simultaneously calming and impressive.

CANDI is fully compatible with the AmigaOS screen dragging feature and more importantly works seamlessly with hardware accelerated compositing video playback introduced with the RadeonHD v2.4 drivers.

The new CANDI Prefs utility enables full control of the dynamic CANDI powered Workbench and incorporate the following key features:-

* Workbench CANDI can be started from WBStartup prefs or manually from the CANDI Prefs icon.
* Ability to choose single or multiple CANDI backdrops and automatically cycle between them.
* A new custom static backdrops option.
* Choose between dynamic and static CANDI backdrops and automatically cycle between them.
* Mix dynamic CANDI animations with custom static backdrops.
* Change the cycle/rotation time for both dynamic and static backdrops.
* A LowCPU option for machines with less powerful CPUs.
* Enable or disable Ringhio notifications while starting and changing an animated background.
* Turn CANDI backdrops ON/OFF.

Candi Prefs is now part of the Workbench CANDI package, FREE to existing users and is available from AMIStore for new users.

Recommended System requirements :
AmigaOS4.1 - Final Edition, RadeonHD v2.10 drivers, a higher specification RadeonHD gfx card
