software MorphOS   Public Release of MorphOS 3.12
software MorphOS posted by ASiegel on 2-Oct-2019 10:55:33 (1701 reads)
The MorphOS development team is proud to announce the public release of MorphOS 3.12. This new version introduces brand new dual-monitor capabilities to various Powerbook laptops as well as G5 desktop systems, and features improved thermal management, fan control and dynamic CPU frequency switching, which provide increased energy efficiency and reduced noise levels. Additionally, the Helios Firewire stack has been fully integrated into the core OS and we added support for hundreds of modern printers and scanners.

Furthermore, the Odyssey web browser has been upgraded and now utilizes newer and more modern components for handling connections, encryption, spell-checking, and low-level drawing operations. Plus, it features a redesigned and more adaptive user interface.

In addition, our official integrated development environment Flow Studio has been substantially updated and extended yet again bringing numerous usability and LUA scripting enhancements, full support for Hollywood, and code sensing as well as function listing abilities for many additional languages.

Developers will also appreciate the inclusion of a new MUI text rendering engine that is capable of rendering Unicode text. This feature is currently enabled in selected applications and in all ObjC applications. Thanks to the addition of the new ObjFW runtime, it is now also possible to write native ObjC applications that utilize Automatic Reference Counting (ARC).

Moreover, MorphOS now offers a rewritten spellchecker that is based on Hunspell and libvoikko cores and uses UTF-8. Spell-checking is now supported in all of MUI's string input gadgets, Flow Studio and Odyssey.

For a more comprehensive explanation of these changes and a list of additional features, such as the ability to mute the boot chime on Mac computers from within MorphOS, please read our release notes.

We strongly urge new users to carefully read our installation and troubleshooting guides before they attempt to install MorphOS for the first time. Existing users can upgrade via the familiar procedure but are encouraged to read the guides as well. MorphOS 3.12 is available for download in our files section.

Two quick items that need your attention:

ZitaFTP Server Bug-Fix Update

ZitaFTP Server has been updated to version 1.8. This version has multiple bug fixes and workarounds. The most serious issue that's been fixed was a security flaw that could allow users to access files outside of the shared directories (if you know how). Plus, the added workarounds enable ZitaFTP Server to work with a wider variety of FTP clients.

Click here to download the latest ZitaFTP Server.

Introductory Special Discount Ends in 3 Days

Want a discount for ZitaFTP Server? Better act now, because the introductory special ends in 2 days (Monday 23 September, 2019, New Zealand time). After that, the price goes up.

software Classic   Amiga Kit Acquires AK-Datatypes
software Classic posted by amigakit on 7-Sep-2019 10:52:45 (8613 reads)

Cardiff, 9th March, 2024

AmigaKit Ltd is pleased to announce an important software development for the forthcoming A600GS computer system. The new ARM Graphics Library is pre-installed accelerating the performance of AmiBench and 68K applications.

The ARMgraphics.library was created by AmigaKit's in-house developer to bypass the bottleneck of the 68K graphics functions. It accelerates graphics rendering performance in applications.

AmiBench is pre-installed on the A600GS computer system. It opens the desktop environment in high resolution 1080p with True Colour icons. Now it can use the new ARM Graphics Library for various purposes including faster rendering of windows, icons and backgrounds.

Third party developers can take advantage of this library by using it's powerful functions from their 68K application. It also offers an opportunity for 68K games developers to enhance their games with faster graphics rendering.

The library provides a link between 68K programs and the native ARM processor.

Further work is underway to patch 68K system graphics functions so older applications that are not written to use the ARM Graphics Library can benefit.

AmigaKit has developed AK-Datatypes, Picture Datatype and Datatypes Library over the many years for the Enhancer Software on X5000, X1000 and A1222+. These have been compiled for 68K to run on the A600GS, In addition these system components can also be accelerated by the ARM Graphics Library for extra performance.

The A600GS computer system is due for launch in the second quarter of 2024.

Additional Information about A600GS, AmiBench and it's components can be found on these websites:
