Software News   Thomas Richter Quits Amiga Software Development
Software News posted by bugg on 11-Feb-2003 16:10:35 (3452 reads)
He writes: "as you might or might not know, my Amiga died a couple of month ago and I decided to quit any support concering my Amiga software products. This starts somewhere at DiskSafe and ends in the MuLib package. Hence, if someone's interested in continuing the development of all or some of my Amiga software packages, there need to be a new maintainer for them. Conditions are that the software remains maintained and freely available under licence conditions similar to the one I had. I would *not* agree to make all this GPL or LGPL."

The death knell for the humble floppy drive may have been sounded, following Dell's decision to stop installing them on all new PCs.

The Texas-based company has said it will no longer install the devices on its PCs, except as an optional extra, starting next month. Like eight-track tapes and even its 5-1/4 inch floppy cousin, the 3-1/2 inch, 1.44MB floppy disk now faces near extinction.
