I am using the same key I registerd last year for my A1200. Works ok on both systems (A1200/OS 3.9 and Sam460/OS 4.1.4).
It was on the SAM460 that IPrefs crashed after closing WarpDTs 30 day time out requestor without the key installed in Classes/Datatypes.
I just removed the key from my 1200 and used a jpg as a backdrop picture. I get the requester but I can close it and my Workbench resumes as normal.

I guess I'll mention my USB problem. The first thing uboot does when the computer boots up is check for USB devices. It shows a message something like "USB: searching for devices". Normally it would find 8 devices. Sometimes it finds 1 device and there is a message "USB search failed" or something. I think the one device it finds is the SD slot, which it can boot from. Rebooting doesn't help this. The only thing to do is turn off the power switch in the back and then back on. This usually solves it, not always. I also have the disappearing USB and rebooting that other people have described, but it seems like a different thing. _________________ X5000 / microA1(OS4.1 FE U2) / CodeBench / Imagine / Blender Lightwave 2019 / Microsoft Visual C++ |

Perhaps USB on the SAM460 should stand for "Universal Serial Bugs".
I am sure this problem will be addressed and fixed soon (I hope).

Why do I use WarpDT? Because I like it.
IPrefs, which is a part of The OS, is the program that the Grim Reaper caught, not WarpDT. As an ex-programmer I know either could be to blame. Without further investigation its not fair to place the blame on WarpDT or the OS.
I am bit confused why people are so sensitive about stuff like this. I may have been a bit disgruntled when I wrote my post but I wasn't rude or slamming the Amiga (or any of it's incarnations).
it's as if I walked in to a room and yelled "Amiga Sucks!". The fact that I own an Amiga 500, a A1200 T, and a new Sam460 would contradict that comment to the point of being absurd.

Mainly because there has been lots of (genuine) threads about OS4.1 and SAM460's shortcomings recently, it doesn't look on guests if they keep seeing this - of course adding a false title doesn't help.
As you know its something to do with WarpDT then that should have appeared in the title rather than the OS/HW and you would have had less people coming on here pointing it out. Last edited by djrikki on 23-Apr-2012 at 08:20 AM.

Man I feel bad for these guys that got nice NG systems and are having so many problems. Especially returning amiga scene guys
I wish Project Moana (sp) happened as a retail OS4 product. There are many sensible reasons why Morphos Team put all their efforts into Mac PPC platform support.
1. Reliablity of hardware 2. Extensive documentation 3. Years of people previously using Mac PPC hw for custom PPC projects 4. Affordability and availability
and so on..
With Sam project (and X1k project) you are using brand new PPC boards that have only been in the "field" for a few years and are attempting to port an "alien" ppc os to it. This means many CUSTOM DRIVERS for newer and more obscure (history wise) hardware.. So as you guys can see writing custom drivers to Amiga os system is not easy and takes much time and bug fixing. Its getting down, but time is the main enemy.
Anyway, I hope Sam support improves but this whole "cant use this card in this slot while this card is in this slot" and "cant have hd and cd connnected at same time" type of thing is very frustrating. Especially for $1k us hw. Those problems actually remind me of ArticiaS and Peg1/A1 days. Last edited by realize on 23-Apr-2012 at 10:43 AM.

"Extensive documentation"
Are you serious?
Has apple released the development material of PPC Macs to enable third party OS support.
Or what do you mean by "Extensive documentation"?
(as far as I see, things like PowerBook support for MOS has been ongoing for very many years because of the total lack of any HW documentation of Mac HW) Last edited by KimmoK on 23-Apr-2012 at 10:48 AM. Sam460 wise, mostly not. OS4.1? Maybe. Why IPrefs cacks after the WarpDatatype requester being closed is left to interpretation. Was it IPrefs or WarpDT that caused this? We may never know... |
I guess I'm way too late to this thread, but I can answer that - it was neither . Which version of intuition.library are you using? I fixed a bug in it which was causing this issue with the WarpDT requester, which ultimately was just a basic standard intuition requester - nothing special. The bug can be side-stepped by pressing the Escape key instead of clicking the buttons with the mouse. More recent versions of the WarpDTs use requester.class for the requester instead, which avoids the intuition bug. The fix was introduced in intuition.library 53.32.
Anyway, this should set the record straight - it really was a bug in the OS and not the WarpDTs. Does anybody read changelogs anymore? It was all documented there.Last edited by Futaura on 09-May-2012 at 10:54 AM. Last edited by Futaura on 09-May-2012 at 10:52 AM.

@Drewlio77
You can also get the Early startup menu by pressing the Scroll Lock key on your keyboard when the OS 4 logo appears.

Thanks. I gave up on this since it appeared never to work. This time I tried clicking both mouse buttons rapidly after the OS 4 logo appears, the menu finally came up.
Now to get the WarpdataTypes key installed...

Thank you for sharing your experience! It's great that rapid clicks worked. Installing WarpdataTypes sounds challenging but worth trying if it can improve performance or functionality. Good luck with that too! |
