| The best way to get Papyrus ported to OS4 would be to write up a business plan, get 2000 of your closest Amiga fans to put in $2000 each, and fly out to visit the Papyrus guys do business.
Hope I don't get labelled a troll for making this suggestion!

Sorry, with that amount of cash I would personally hire a team to port OpenOffice.org._________________ Seriously, if you want to contact me do not bother sending me a PM here. Write me a mail |

| I would consider Gobe Productive before Open Office.
Isn't Open Office bloatware? Well, wouldn't be any worse than say MS Office
http://www.gobe.com/
However, think about this, Papyrus should be smaller, quicker to port, and easier to support than something like Open Office. Get Papyrus first, then... work on the bigger production
How's that for trolling?

| 4 Million Bucks ? And only port OpenOffice ? :)
With that I would port OpenOffice AND buy licences for several currently-or-even-future top-selling PC-games and finance the porting as well :)

| How about we start a petition for 2,000 people to donate $2,000 dollars each (in true Red Troll style)? _________________ Life starts at 030, is fun at 040 and causes impotence at x86. |

I prefer the word "functional" over "bloatware". The word "bloatware" is often used by people that don't have anything better than a minimally functional implementation of a component (say, a word processor) and think that a 100MB tarball must be "bloatware".

I'd love to see Papyrus for OS 4, although I don't know the program. However, the interest from Titan wasn't exactly overwhelming._________________ Seriously, if you want to contact me do not bother sending me a PM here. Write me a mail |

| @Darth_X Well that was the idea
In all honesty I would LOVE to see if the sourcecode to Wordworth/Final Writer could be obtained from the respective owners, and then to be updated with "industry standard" import/export filters.
How practical this is, however, remains to be seen. _________________ Life starts at 030, is fun at 040 and causes impotence at x86. |

I agree, OO would be great to have. I get the feeling that it's going to become something of an anti-MSOffice standard in the next few years. Too bad it doesn't currently come with a database- though I'm sure it will eventually get one.

Me too.
Papyrus is ONE program which includes WP, Spreadsheet and Database and Formula Editor.
But Everything is done in the WP, there is no extra window for the spreadsheet or database (which is relational btw). No need to import or export files into the WP. This also means that you can the functions of each part of the prog used in another one. Spreadsheet formulas inside Wp or inside DB, or DB inside WP or Spreadsheet etc.
Plus the WP is very fast and does have DTP features. At the official page of Papyrus is a demo available fro Windows.
I don't think that porting Papyrus to AOS4 is difficult as an Alpha Version for Aos 3.x is ready and functional.
The Morphos version is beta for now, as is written in AmigaPlus which also shows some Morphos Papyrus screenshots.

| I tried to talk to Titan with regard to doing an OS4 version of Papyrus but they seemed very pro Genesi and had nothing nice to say about Eyetech, Hyperion or Amiga...... so who's the fools?
Have a look at Abiword here http://www.abisource.com/ from what I know it's open source, not bloatware (your definition) and apparently far easier to port to other platforms than the likes of Open Office _________________ SAM 460 with 2GB or RAM, 1000GB HD, 4 port SATA, DVDRW drive and Radeon HD 4650 GFX card. |

| Well, I think several 100000 USD should be enough to convince Blizzard. But anyways, I do not have those amounts of money, so the whole argument is purely theoretical :( And I am afraid they would not agree for ANY "realistic" (for the port) amount of licence fee, but only for something huge... :(

I think Titan are, as the expression goes "cutting of their nose to spite their face". How many copies of Papyrus do they think they can sell to MorphOS users, they (MorphOS users) will be vastly outnumbered by Amiga OS4 users so why cut off your largest chunk of potential customers?
They must be influenced by something/someone else I guess...... now who could that be? _________________ SAM 460 with 2GB or RAM, 1000GB HD, 4 port SATA, DVDRW drive and Radeon HD 4650 GFX card. |

Not that I'm sure, but weren't MagicSN speaking of Blizzard and not Titan? Is it me mixing up the two things, or..? |
