Source codes for "Faery Tale Adventure" released under the MIT license
David "Talin" Joiner has released the source code of his 1986 role-playing game The Fairy Tale Adventure under the MIT license.

It was programmed in Aztec-C this might help for a port or for enhancement, but this game has some clever tricks in its sleeves, it loads blocks directly from floppy into ChipRAM using DMA bypassing the OS.
This was needed for loading GFX (or sound) during the game without interrupting the other game routines.

Only Amiga made it possible

@OneTimer1

I was thinking about different game, that game was kind of cool, I have not looked at the code, but I guess it need a bit of rewrite to make system friendly, it’s a really old game.

Land of Legions source release would be an awesome too but that game was never completed and sold. No idea what state the code is in if still kicking around somewhere.

This might be complicated, it depends on the rights for the source. Those who paid the developers have it, if they went bankrupt someone else might have it, maybe there is someone who has the right but didn't even know.

I don’t own the intellectual property for Faery Tale 2, but that’s OK because I don’t need it. I do have rights to the original Faery Tale.

The actual “ownership” is unfortunately a murky situation at this point — partly because some of the people who might conceivably have a financial interest can no longer be contacted. (Joe Pearce even hired a private detective at one point to track people down!)

This might also bee a problem for other games of him
