| A new MiSTer clone is coming, from Heber and RMC, the people who brought you the Multisystem expansion and cases for MiSTer. The new Multisystem 2 is not an expansion, it is itself a fully loaded MiSTer clone ready for use. Among the cores available is of course the Minimig core that provides TG68/020, AGA and Toccata on FPGA, RTG and hundreds of MB with Fast RAM...

| @kolla: it looks pretty!
And it doesn't cost that much, considering other systems embedding the same FPGA chip. |

Agreed.

Like that one I came across lately : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rtPwj9BnNG0&ab_channel=Proteque-CBN Looking it up, I ended up at about four times the price of this Multisystem box.
Although I must admit, I never really was an early adopter, and had others make the good (or not-so-good) experiences first ... I suppose I will try to revive my old A4000 first. |

Thank you for this. Looks like a great piece of kit for the price.

Even worse. Really, too much expensive.
IMO the MultiSystem2 has set the stone for projects like that in terms of prices. Charging much more by other projects means squeezing the customers. Quote:

Well, if you have an A4000, then... enjoy it, lucky man! |

I will go slow with that. Not that it vanihes in a cloud of smoke when I turn it on ... A bit over-dramatizing, but the electrolytic caps might be a problem after 30 years. The RTC battery had been leaking years ago, but I had cleaned it up back then.

Watching the video and reading the specs, I think they target the retro-gaming community -with a very competitive product. If I was into gaming, I would definitely get such a box. As I understood it, the FPGA core can emulate about half a dozen or more different systems, including Atari STs and game consoles.
I think a far more promising business approach than appealing to the tiny (and shrinking) Amiga productivity niche (a.k.a. the PPC Amigas). |

How cool would it be to have an minimig like system that allowed you to access zorro cards, who says the A4000 expansion slots, says A1200 clock port. When you see these FPGAs accessing cartridges, or to a less extent AmiCube acessing floppy drives, I think it would be a cool way to merge the old with the new. _________________ Indigo 3D Lounge, my second home. | I more tempted to get this than I should be.
I really like the Cartridge idea for adding different system Controller ports and the ZapaRoo NFC cards that you can just insert to load a game or a system.
Plus its not a bad price for an FPGA based system. _________________ AmigaNG, YouTube, LeaveReality Studio |

I count on my MiSTer, which btw is in a Multisystem (now dubbed "Multisystem 1") case ...
- 64 computer system cores - 40 game console cores - 450 arcade cores
... and I'm only really using the Minimig core, I really should explore the other cores more.

The Multisystem (1) boards appear to have done well and were well received.
They did require a separate MiSTer though, which is where the Multisystem 2 comes into its own - allowing people who never got a MiSTer to now have that functionality with the simple options for expandability the Multisystem 1 and 2 now offer. _________________ Test sig (new) |

Interesting kolla, does it feel like you are using a fast Amiga without any difference to real hardware? Does everything work from all utilities and games, and are they cycle accurate?
All the best!

Yes, it’s like fast EC030 system with graphics and audio card.

Everything that’s supposed to work does work. RTG can seem a little sluggish when compared to software emulators, but that’s because RTG is software after all and this isn’t a JIT enabled emulator. It’s more on pair with Picasso or CV64 with a fast 030. On the other hand, OCS/ECS and AGA benefits from much increased ram access speed. If you need cycle exact (why?), you can switch to a configuration with 68000 CPU as it then replaces the TG68/020 core with the cycle exact Fx68k core.Last edited by kolla on 09-May-2025 at 02:15 PM.
