| Anyway, the PS3 eBay prices seem to fluctuate a lot, currently prices seem to range between 810 USD (+100 dollar shipping) - 1825 USD (+20 dollar shipping).
On average people are making by far more profits on reselling PS3 hardware than people made profits on reselling XBox 360 hardware during the same period of its lifecycle.
BTW, a nice PS3 feature I wasn't aware of (Face recognition): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DDypErvJrD0&eurl= |

1825 USD (+20 dollar shipping). |
The auction ended at 1925 USD (+20 dollar shipping.
So that's a 1925 - 599 = 1326 dollar profit, enough to buy another PS3 Premium, a Nintendo Wii and a XBox 360 Premium and some games for free.
For comparison this XBox 360 package which surely costed more than 1400 dollar was sold for only 933 USD (+50 dollar shipping).
XBox 360 with extra headset / wireless controller and camera, 32 games and a HD-DVD drive. So that's a considerable loss. |

He had one complaint so far (18 positive), as according to the seller he waited to long with communication, to which he responded with a negative report himself saying the seller lacks patience:

It looks like he bought the XBox 360 game from this person despite the differences, as Madden 07 was part of the package he offered at eBay, it costed him 48 USD. Last edited by MikeB on 27-Dec-2006 at 02:36 PM.

What I am claiming is that the XBox and Nintendo GameCube are at the end of their lifecycle while the Playstation 2 clearly isn't. This year and in total numbers the PS2 is clearly going to outsell the competition. | Don't know about the Gamecube but the Xbox is no longer being manufactured. It's actually good for Sony the PS2 is selling. It keeps them from falling further in debt by making them some profits. Something the PS3 isn't doing for them at this time.

People generally prefer to own a PS3 rather than a PS2, but they are currently by far more expensive and harder to find | I think people would rather have the newer console. But I think the harder to find thing poses issues to how badly they want it. Many people can justify $150 for a console w/ $20 games for their kids. Fewer can justify a $600 for a console w/ $60 games.
Xbox360 reaching 10 million this year would have matched the shipping # for PS2s their first year. Indeed impressive in a market that's more competitive since there are now 3 companies selling consoles. |

What's your point here? A console you can't buy in the stores because the vendor hasn't ramped up adequate production is more then a console you can buy in the store because the vendor has their production wheels spinning at full speed? AND? |

Debt? Sony has reserves and in general is running profits. Sure they make less profits than Microsoft does, but they have almost 3 times the amount of employees to pay and have invested a lot on R&D.
For judging how well the PS3 will do, we will have to wait for global availability and for the bigger titles to appear for the system, there are quite a lot undergoing development.

Everyone has to make out the relevance for him or herself. It just illustrates people are willing to pay twice the price of a new but rather bare PS3 system than people are willing to spend on a complete XBox 360 package together with extras including 32 games.

The PS2 started with a Japanese exclusive launch. It sells near 20 million units a year worldwide. Personally I think this year, will be the XBox 360's best year, next year the PS3 will slowly take over (also from the PS2) while going global. |

Debt? Sony has reserves and in general is running profits | Sony isn't in debt. But, their cash reserve is sinking. And no Sony isn't running profits. 2006 Sony themselves have projected an operational loss of $862 million. This is small compared to the likely losses coming in 2007. Sony is projected to manufacture 6 million PS3s by April. Sony's rumored loss is over $300/console. Do a conservative $200 loss per console to manufacture and you'll see Sony has 1.2 Billion in loss coming early 2007. They are going to have to average more then the .9 games/console sales which they've seen in Japan or this is going to hit them hard. Thus, Blu-Ray better work they have to resell their video and music library to PS3s.

But, it's seen these super high PS3 values are nearing their end.

I doubt the 360 will reach 20 million per year. I highly doubt the PS3 is going to reach that. Of course the big winner this Christmas is the Nintendo DS lite. It's the best selling here in the USA. In Japan it recently sold more then the PS3 + PS2 + PSP + Xbox360 + Wii combined.
Imagine if Sony could sell 20 Million PS3s by next Christmas... How would they handle the estimated $40 Billion loss? |

Sony's projections for 2006 is revenues of $69 billion and a net profit of $678 million. Sony isn't in trouble by a long shot, for next year they expect to make more profits as this year they were a bit unlucky.

That's not going to happen, PS3 production costs will go down, software sales will go up. |

Seems you continue to try to paint what seems to many of us as a completely misleading picture surrounding PS3.
Last few PS3 sales (or no bids) picked off eBay: 60GB $695 buy it now, no takers 60GB model, sold for $680USD
Both sellers have good feedback, over 400 each, yet people aren't paying more than the cost of the console retail + tax for them.
This isn't really a terrible thing, it's just the facts. Let's not go down the 'oh, you can go into any store and buy one now' path, as you still can not.

I think the most painful one was the auction that was not spotted by more than one. It had *one* bidder bidding the minimum amount and seller had set no reserve. Ouch.
This was back when they were generally still selling for a lot though

They had projected 40% higher profits. Perhaps their batteries are better and they're regain those clients in 07. They are expanding phones, again which is good they're profitable where the PS3 isn't and isn't projected to be in 07. |

I don't agree, if you compare the mountains to the real life scenery they look very realistically done. I have now read many comments from people owning both platforms and most people are simply blown away by the graphical detail, amount of polygons, geometric mountains, etc.
In other news Tekken 5 Dark Resurrection in 1080p/60 FPS. The game also seems to include several improvents such as effects like self-shadowing. "LOL this already looks better than Tekken 6 at E3"
The game looks amazing:

720p screenshot: http://www.watch.impress.co.jp/game/docs/20061208/tk512.jpg
Also there are reports that the PS3 has sold over 100,000 units last week in Japan, so that would be more than during the Japanese launch.

Tekken 5 -- End user screenshot of the menu doesn't really show anything. Those are typically static image, usually prerendered. As such I don't see why my PS2 wouldn't look that good on the screenshot.
The 720p looks to be in game so a bit better. It appears to be slightly better then DOA4. Hopefully they'll bring more detail to the game before launch. But, it is only 1 shot hard to from a final opinion, of course. |

This doesn't look impressive, to be honest, it looks like a slightly more detailed Tekken, the character models do not look any more realistic and in the second shot, the characters do not appear to fit the background either. _________________

BTW the game costs 2000 yen, around $16-17.
Some user comments:
"Its already been stated but its extremely hilarious how this game looks nearly as good as the E3 showing of Tekken6"
"I just managed to get it from the HK store I'm very, very happy with it"
"Whoa.. really sweet!"
"Seems like Namco even took the time to redo the 2D assets for HD resolutions..."
"load times are pretty much non-existant" |
