Programmer Richard Goedeken is set to show off his new C128 game at the April 25-26 Commodore Los Angeles Super Show 2026! He says that the secret, unnamed game is "using the high resolution video port to display 640x480 in 16 colors, VGA resolution!" He also says, "The game almost certainly won't be finished by CLASS but it's playable even now and it's fun."

@RobertB

I would really like to see a video of it, the hires mode of the C128 wasn't very fast, maybe good enough for slow games (2D RPGs & P'n'C Adventures) and I'm curious.

For the download of this April version of the game, Busted Boulders, go to https://demozoo.org/productions/390765/ or https://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=106123

But remember, it is very alpha,

@RobertB
Busted Boulder's resolution and speed are good for a high resolution 6502 family game written in C. I wonder if Richard tried or even knew about Vbcc which is a C cross compiler that supports a C128 target and has Amiga roots. It looks like there are only 3 popular C cross compilers that support the C128 so it would be unlikely he would miss it. It takes a lot of dedication just to support the 6502 family which is not compiler or OS friendly. Richard started with the much better 6809 which explains why he would not want to use 6502 assembly language. It is the same thing with many 68k programmers who never want to go back to anything as primitive as the 6502. It is not possible to even have a proper stack as Richard points out toward the end of the video.
