@AmigaMac

If any statement had been made in that regard, I'm sure it would have appeared across Amigaland by now.

I’m hopeful that it will happen.

I must say, that MOS looks more and more appealing, especially now that AOS development looks to be dead

Sauerbraten on AROS:

But to be honest, you showed Doom on Mirari 'cause people know Doom and because it was a fast port of the OS to this PPC hardware.

Nice to see Sound working and I hope USB works to.

If you want to speed up AmigaOS 4 development for the Mirari board, buy an A1222.

The level of mental gymnastics to rationalize some things... Keep it up guys, I still have popcorn left.

@Yssing

Give it a try, be great to have you!

You may want to check out the more recent videos by Retro Action and Dr. Chris Edwards.

The last 5 or so years of solid development has really made for a great experience with the OS and more importantly the productivity applications.

Enjoy...

That's great news but wondering why MorphOS devs can quickly get MorphOS running on this new and upcoming Mirari board but no luck for X1000 owners after all these years ??? Can't be something with A-Eon since X5000 users can run MorphOS...

@klx300r

I have no idea. I would join the MorphOS Discord and ask the guys over there. That is where all the actions is now anyways.

If I had to wager a longshot guess, I bet the independence and driven nature of the Mirari Team aligns pretty well with the MorphOS Team as they are very driven as well. MorphOS today is just all alone for stability, performance, and ability, and it doesn't look to be slowing any time in future. I also frankly trust the hardware much more from the Mirari Team frankly, they are more like Genesi in the sense the leaders get "how the rubber meets the road", ie they are hardware guys and will see it through as appose to investors having other parties develop stuff. That is why the X1000 still needs OS4 drivers for the hardware and why I don't think we will see that with Mirari.

You may also want to pick up a G4 or G5 system, they are very inexpensive and provide more power than anything else at this point at least... I'm greatly looking forward to the Mirari that has Altivec and more performance as that should run very well with MorphOS. (although the current Mirari without it really seems to do very well indeed!)

If you watch the more recent videos you can really see what it can do. Although Iris and PolyOrga need some love on YT. They are simply amazing, with a base install of the OS you get a full featured email client you can have contacts and setup meetings and a PIM that you can run a business on. Good stuff...

SerDes lanes are used for the highest speed SoC I/O but they are also expensive. PCIe for a discreet GPU uses too many lanes for a low cost SoC/SBC. Integrated GPUs can have more performance at a lower cost without wasting SerDes lanes on the GPU. SerDes saved can be used elsewhere for more performance. Standard GPUs have an advantage. RPi, AMD, Apple, Sony and Nintendo understand the advantages but the PC and Amiga world are full of dinosaurs.

Big APUs also cut the labor costs for installing a GPU card.

https://pcpartpicker.com/products/motherboard/#s=41&c=169&sort=price&page=1
ASRock B850M-X R2.0 AM5 Micro-ATX Motherboard with PCIe 5.0 16 lanes has US$ US$112.98 retail price with shipping.

Specs from https://www.asrock.com/MB/AMD/B850M-X%20R2.0/index.asp#Specification
PCIe 16 lanes 5.0,
M.2 PCIe 4 lanes 5.0,
M.2 PCIe 4 lanes 4.0,
M.2 PCIe WiFi,

SerDes are not expensive.

Happy Birthday Amiga! Just more infighting over the scraps of IP and aging code.15 years on from Bletchley Park and it just feels needlessly hard to get machines to market!

The Amiga (TM) has its Boston Legal drama, and William Shatner's level ego is not needed.

William Shatner's character ego is comedy.

Thanks to Broadcom's help, the RPi's 1st 10,000 batch was very cheap.

@Karlos

What i can tell you is that I have shipped two boards for the development of the ExecSG kernel.
One board is with Steven Solie and the other at Thomas Frieden.

Most other boards are with the MorphOS developers.
