@fairlanefastback

Thank you, and i agree they could give some information, but then again i don't think they can reveal too much. It's all about policy and how much they have permission to reveal. I am sure we will know not too long..

Yes, OS4.1 Final for SAM. With fixed USB support and all. Pretty please!

@Trixie

I think it'll be something more than tha final version of OS4.1 for Sam/Sam Flex systems.

Of course all we want it as soon as possible: I'm a proud owner of a Sam Flex 800Mhz

That's for sure! (otherwise Hyperion wouldn't be so mysterious about it). I was just expressing my deepest wishes for the moment

Yes and when you buy a 360 you have to buy two, because the other one is always in repair

@Gleng

I put 0.20€ for AOS4 Cell (accelerator) support.
And perhaps another 0.20€ for AOS4 Powerstation support.

But I want 4.1 final for SAM first!

But you can't launch a new machine without an operating system!!

@Swoop

How about a totally new Amiga OS ? .

Total rewrite of Amiga OS with OS3.x and OS4.x programs running in a sandbox .
Full memory protection etc....

This would be more ambitious than a port to a different CPU...

Anyone else think that this is not neccesary (sp?) ?
All existing OS4 programs are still being developed/maintained so the people behind these programs could port them to 'that other AmigaOS' (I did not say it would be easy)
In contrary to 68k programs that have either no source code anymore or the programmers have quit. So here we DO need emulation.

Otherwise we would have WarpOS emulation, PowerUp emulation, classic 68k emulation, Os4 emulation. It's gonna be a bit messy that way...

Anyway I also think it would be a waste of time and resources to AGAIN change to a non compatible OS (mind you, OS4 is NOT backwards compatible with 68k apps without the emulation of the 68k CPU !)

blabla.... off to bed. Got a NEN3140 course tomorrow....

Martin

I don't consider the news item a tease for interest. I think it constructively informs us that they are working on something that requires a lot of resources. So when we see slowed development or limited responses on the companies projects in general, we know they aren't sitting on their hands.

There is no room for "let down", because they have not announced what their new project is.
That means we are not justified or qualified to demand that our own guesses, insinuations, or fantasies for the final product must become realities. Whatever they *release* as a completed product will be a benefit and not a detriment.

Actually, there isn't any more info coming at this point because we do not make any announcements until we can make firm commitments.

If that is the situation, then this info is sufficient enough for me at this time.

Think what you want, I still think you will be *very* surprised.

But wait, now, that's what I call bolstering interest *scratching head*

Hopefully I'm not getting too surprised

I have not seen anyone demanding what the project be about at all. Care to show us where?

While I tend to agree with that likely being the case by the same token you can not guarantee that.

If I do something in view of folks that I intend to have a certain reaction but I get a different reaction than expected its fair to say I did not see that coming. But if I get that reaction a lot unintentionally, to the point where I were to make pronouncements about how I was going to curtail my behavior in the future (i.e. "we do not make any announcements until we can make firm commitments") its probably fair to say that I should have seen it coming if I do it again in some form.

That website, just like Amiga, Inc.'s is obviously scoured quite often, for the slightest change. The slightest change, the slightest outage, makes news (at least as threads) here within hours (if not sometimes minutes). This is well known. And in this case it was more than that, mentioning of their most ambitious project to date.

They typed what they typed, the bottom line is you are going to have multiple threads about it, over months. Know thy customer-base.
