Perhaps I misunderstand, but by reading quotes from the principals about who licenses what trademark to whom, it seems this is of importance, whilst others here seem to think the trademarks are of no/little importance.
Here are Trevor Dickinson's "understandings" from various points in time:

These statements are made post-lawsuit btw. Would not ownership of these trademarks affect licensing agreements?
