It's been relatively quiet on the legal front for the last few weeks. I'm surprised that there hasn't been any chatter related to these recent tweets from Amiga Documents:

@amigadocuments Jan 14

Petrodollar bonanza continues: multiple parties report that Trevor Dickinson told them he "owns" Exec SG now. Is end of Hyperion near? Was this reason for heavily indebted lawyer-controlled company to go after Classic? Some have known for 6+ months. Community vs. secret agendas.

@amigadocuments Jan 17
Only Amiga makes it possible:
- Claimed cost of 3.1.4 update work from developers: free.
- Per latest response, Hyperion's "conservative" estimate of 3.1.4 sales: $240,000-$360,000/year (10x their 2017 sales?)
- Hyperion's request for related bond: $750,000-1,000,000.

@ne_one

If I summarize :

A-Eon would gor for OS 4
Hyperion would focus on Classic

Maysbe it's over simplisitic but i's how I understand what you wrote

Wow!!!

... big news if confirmed! Should be an interesting Tabor release now! A-EON are in double or nothing by the sound of it!

@K-L

I'm not sure if it's quite that cut and dry but it does sound like OS 4 will be limited to its present form.

It also implies that Hyperion may be grossly overstating revenue for 3.1.x but didn't actually compensate anyone for its development.

@K-L

Save for that pesky Cloanto that Hyperion has to sue into the ground for their Classic Amiga OS copyright Settlement Agreement be damned

Hyperion have never owned ExecSG (the Frieden broathers did) so this does not in any signal the end of Hyperion.

Why exactlly would A-Eon who makes OS4 hardware buy a component of the operating system and then limit it's developement?

Speculation over the end of the world is the truest of amiga pass times but could please engage at least one brain cell formulating your conspiracy theories?

That would be around 8000 copies sold (with the most conservative estimate). Sounds quite reasonable.

These quotes don't say we are 'abusing' developers to get rich, we (Hyperion) for once (according to all negativists), listen to the public, establish a team to do AmigaOS3.1.4, let them do their thing (fyi i'm involved every step of the way), release an update AmigaOS3.1.4 and again some people complain.

I have always said, let's do AmigaOS3.1.4, see how the reaction is and then decide HOW to go forward.

PS: why don't you ask me or other people@Hyperion if we are getting rich from this or getting paid ?

Hey, Timothy De Groote (SimplePPC) or other people@Hyperion, is AmigaOS 3.1.4 68k Hyperion's most profitable product ever despite not "getting rich from this or getting paid"?

Is this Twitter account in any way associated with the website of the same name? The maintainer of the website seems to be very thorough, Are there any links to sources of these stories?

Here's a tip: read the preamble before ranting like an obvious sycophant.

If the comments in the tweets are indeed true, it's not like we're talking about a lines and boxes demo.

Yes. Source are the court documents, see amiga-news.de for example (german-only for now, but the first link called "PDF-Datei" refers to the actual document). On page 9 of the court document, Hyperion's figures are quoted.

@Rob

The Twitter account and site are mutually referenced so presumably they are maintained by the same person.

The first comment is evidently common knowledge.

The second tweet appears to be a reference drawn from the litigation. Someone with access to the published transcripts should be able to confirm.

I see your point. It would help if there are smileys there if the intention was humourous. Anyone can be a jerk and it works both ways. Another "Is AW.net toxic?" poll coming soon?

It certainly isn't just alines abd boxes demo but:

Your assumption seems to be that if Trevor now owns ExecSG that will limit AmigaOS, but this is illogical, Hyperion have never owned ExecSG The Freidens did own their own creation and so that aspect hasn't changed and Trevor is hardly likely to limit the OS for which his company's machines are built.

Hyperion developeing 3.1.4 could be related in principle, but it's more likey IMHO they are chasing the expand sales opportunity recent accelerators have made popular. Whether those sales figures are accurante I have no idea but they don't seem like global multination company level numbers

@g01df1sh

if it follows amiga history it will go on until someone either runs out of money or decides it's no longer worth it to run out of money. and by the time that happens, a significant portion of the user base will have walked away.

sycophant: noun, a person who acts obsequiously towards someone important in order to gain advantage.

how is he acting like a sycophant?

It's not exactly common knowledge when you have to start the thread by asking why nobody is discussing it here.

I think if it was the case A-EON would be keen to put out a press release.

You must be joking because there aren't that many active classic Amiga users left on the planet, let alone ones who are going to buy copies of OS 3.1.4 annually.

The assertion that Hyperion will sell enough copies annually to support an annual revenue stream in excess of $240K is absurd.
