| Folks,
In addition to the venerable Amiga Future and the Poland-based Amiga User, it looks like English-speakers can add another Amiga print magazine to their subscription lists: Amiga Addict. I'm not familiar with the publishers -- they're in the UK -- but Issue #1 is scheduled for December and their taking pre-orders now:
https://www.simulant.uk/shop/amiga-addict-magazine http://www.amiga-addict.com/
They're also on Discord and Twitter, so check them out. I've already purchased a subscription; hopefully others will give the new magazine a try.

This is good news. I see they offer a digital edition in addition to the paper one but if there was a cheaper version that was PDF only, I'd probably go for that one. The age of paper-media is fast declining. I have a cell phone for viewing documents remotely if needed.
Another thing: I don't see whether it's anticipated to be monthly or longer in-between issues. If it's monthly, the paper media will drive the costs sky-high.
It appears to be intended to use a mix between user-written and professional editors. I like that but hope there's enough material that hasn't already been hashed out to no end on the forums. |

Looking forward to this. an actual monthly printed Amiga magazine, designed on an Amiga using Pagestream in 2020, who'd have thought it!
Bagged myself a copy - lets hope they get to the 500 minimum order to get the first run in.

Down to requiring 166. I placed my order a few days ago and will be interested in what they produce if they reach the required numbers. |

Pre-ordered my issue 1. Hoping for a less games orientated mag than Amiga Future.

I would love to see more 'Workshop' type articles. Amiga Future used to do long running workshops on particular subjects which I really enjoyed.
I am guessing they are restricted on what they can put in article wise by what people are willing to submit to them. |

| @all Love printing stuff! I also see that it will cover not only 68k, but also aros/os4/morphos/vampire which is good as well. Through, knowing that AmigaBill is in 68k stuff mostly (at least all the last streams I see with him were about 68k all the time), it probably means that magazine will be 68k mostly.
But again, AmigaFuture lately also mostly 68k, nothing surprising :) While things happen and in OS4 world and on the MorphOS world and with software and with games, still AF by some reason didn't cover most of them anymore. Maybe writers gone..
Anyway, As a side note, is it only me who not very like it when the photos of the main editor are putting everywhere: on the front page especially? And then, inside of the demo pages too. I mean cover image can be better for sure. AF ones are much better structured and concentrate on the content, not on the persons on the front page. And that interview with Dave Haynie: how many times he will be interviewed everywhere ?:) Last edited by kas1e on 05-Nov-2020 at 08:26 AM. Last edited by kas1e on 05-Nov-2020 at 08:25 AM. I love Amiga Future, but it's increasing lack of coverage of the NG scene and focus on older, and less interesting (at least to me) 68K games, is one of the reasons I have high hopes for Amiga Addict. They've already gotten nearly 350 pre-orders, but set a very high bar of 500. I hope folks here will take a chance and give them a try!

Yes, the bar is indeed set quite high. And although I think they do deserve a chance, I can't really imagine them going on like this, running a massive preorder before every issue._________________ The Rear Window blog

| OK. How did folk manage to pre-order ?
First of all there is a Captcha so I have to spoof, reload the page and fill in the form yet again to get though that. What a pain.
Next problem (still spoofing as Nintendo which seem to be the best for Captchas ?). I cannot get beyond the select Payment option. I always get a message "Warning: Payment method required!" despite the Paypal option being clearly selected. Deslecting the option and reselecting it does not work.
If companies want to sell Amiga related products surely they must ensure that their forms work on Amiga browsers and not use Captchas.
Unless this gets sorted it looks as if they have lost a 12 issue subscription

Why is a 12 copy subscription more than twice the price of 2 x 6 month subscription?
Normally when you comment to a higher copy amount subscription you save money.

Sorry to hear you're having trouble BillE - I can't offer too much advice as my own Amiga isn't online, but have you tried one of the modern advanced browsers like Odyssey or NetSurf (depending what you're running on of course)? You're probably doing this of course, but I'm not full of ideas! |

I think you've misread the site.
12 copies (print UK) is £73.99 2x 6 copies (print UK) is 2x£37.99 = £75.98
I know it's not a massive discount, but it is cheaper. I suspect you didn't factor in the base price, the drop down prices are additional. Hope that helps! |

Could it be that there is less coverage of the NG scene, because there is currently less news and new development being done for NG systems? I'm just playing devils advocate here, not trying to enrage anyone or cause a fuss. It just seems to me, that unless you want Amiga Future to report more of what is happening in the courts and lawsuits, that much more is happening with 68k Amiga development, than currently is happening with the NG AmigaOS4 systems. It seems only natural right now that they have more to report on with 68k Amiga development, both software and hardware, than they can report about Amiga NG, either because of the pending lawsuits, or also because Hyperion and A-Eon are more closed lipped about what they are doing, than the community of 68k developers, and hobby hardware creators._________________ Amiga!
