| Front page says 88 pages of replies, 1745 replies.
Actual pages available to view are 86, 1718 replies. . . in three different browsers.
Has there been that much deleted?

| I see that bug on all the long threads on this site. Must be some kind of rounding error that is causing the 'end of thread' pagination count to mismatch with reality _________________

Kinda... the "thread number of pages" counter on the front page takes the "thread message number" of the last posting in the thread and divides this by the number of posts per page to find number of pages. This works fine until moderator start removing a larger number of posts..._________________ B5D6A1D019D5D45BCC56F4782AC220D8B3E2A6CC |

More likely, it's because someone (or two) exercised their GDPR "right to be forgotten," and forced the admin to not only delete their account, but delete all their posts too. This wreaks havoc with forum threads, because you end up with replies to posts that no longer exist.
I expect that the forum software isn't smart enough (yet) to recalculate everything after such post deletions.
What happens if the first post in a thread gets deleted? Does the entire discussion disappear? Or do you end up with a headless discussion?
I wish people would just walk away gracefully instead.

| @Thread
The thread is listed with 88 pages: https://amigaworld.net/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?mode=viewtopic&topic_id=41775&forum=2&start=1740&viewmode=flat&order=0
but in reality it has only 86 pages: https://amigaworld.net/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?mode=viewtopic&topic_id=41775&forum=2&start=1700&viewmode=flat&order=0
I don't know if "the right to forget" really lead to the deletion of pages, deletion of users who left is a known problem, because even if you delete the name and all his threads you will keep all the threads where he was quoted. Most forum replace the user name with "deleted name" or similar.
Deletion in quotes might be possible when it follows the rules of automatic replies, but it would still needed an additional process to go over all postings to do that. [quote]

| Maybe the xoops newbb sync forum would do it. Only an admin can say... |
