From A6000.net
“A new chapter begins.
A new chapter in computing history begins today with the launch of the most powerful Amiga 68k compatible ever created — all packed into the beloved, compact and improved form factor of the good old A600.

We've combined the soul of the original Amiga with the cutting-edge V4 AC68080 performance, delivering a machine that honors its legendary past while redefining what’s possible. Whether you're a lifelong Amiga enthusiast or discovering it for the first time, this is the Amiga experience you've been waiting for. Designed with precision and passion, the new Apollo A6000 offers unmatched speed, stunning graphics, and modern connectivity, all while preserving the iconic simplicity and spirit that made the Amiga a household name.

Small in size, massive in capability — the new Apollo A6000 proves that true greatness doesn't need to be big. It just needs to be bold.â€

So basically custom vampire v4 board in A600 stly case and keyboard, I like it, the only big downer is the price 999euros.

If this could be made for half that I would of got one, I have been on and off tempted with vampire v4, but pistorm are so cheap and emulation is so good, it always just put me off paying the premium for likely will be the coolest fpga system.

I read up how mister project was ported to much cheap fpga chips, I hope maybe one day the same can be done for the vampire as I am tempted, more than I know I logical should be in a system like this one.

@amigang

Why aren’t they showcasing ApolloOS with the marketing materials?

@amigang

Love the form-factor and look. Not loving the price.

I've been a big supporter of Apollo and their mission, but I will pass on this one as right now I'm building a Llama 4/Deepseek V2 rig, and for that price I can get one of the four 24GB VRAM GPUs I need.

It would look so much better without without the ugly logo.
I used to be a big supporter of the vampyre stuff when they wanted to sell stuff cheap and hated all the expensive amiga hardware.

Nowdays they sell the most expensive shit out there. Pistorm is the way to go now.

@monstercoder

Yes, the Pistorm is a great option if you have a 1200 laying around.

So finally they are going full-in selling complete systems in an Amigiash keyboard case, price is to high IMHO but everything else looks OK.

Maybe they where inspired by the success of the "Commodore: C64 Ultimate"

@amigang

It's nice and all, but should have been an A1200 sized case and the price is a little steep

USB mass storage would be a nice move.

I'm not sure what 'their USB' can do, I'm speculating about an USB HDI -> MCU controller was used, they have a built in USB-Stack and can connect to USB devices like keyboard, mouse and joystick and have programmable I2C and GPIO signals on the other side.

Something like a ftdi ft260 ic : https://ftdichip.com/products/ft260q/

But they can't be used for USB devices like mass storage, wifi or printers.

BTW.: If Ethernet works on the Vampire you can use it for modern printers.

@OneTimer1

USB (Poseidon) is part of AROS 68k. Basically it should work with a driver. And of course you need a working USB port. I do not know if USB stil works in Apolloos because they have changed it heavily compared to Aros 68k to make it like 3.1. I cannot juedge that. In theory it would work.

Second problem there is no full USB port on apollo hardware. It is implemented for certain tasks, f.e. one port is for keyboard, one for mouse, but only for this and not for general use.

On discord Gunnar indicated that full USB port is planned for future so we will see

I think A1200 fans are well covered, with the A1200Ng and RetroGames The A1200 coming soon.

Plus nothing stopping anyone building a Vampire v4 system like that now,

600euro to buy the stand alone one, take the board out and put in a A1200.net case, 100euro to get A1200.net case, 180euro for one of them nice new a1200 keyboard, 100 euros for cables, leds and other small stuff, make a project like this under 999euros.

This is also if your buying everything new, I have seen Vampire go for just under £500 on Amiga markets, same with cases, £50/£70, if you look and maybe even get old case and paint it for less, then keyboards, there are some old A1200 keyboards I seen go for £50, so you could if you look around build a system like this for £600.

I know because I plan to build a all in one A1200 system some point this year, so been debating three system to base it around, a Vampire, a A1200NG or a Pi5/mini X86 system with emulators.

Still not sure which to go with.

I can't even run a modern printer on my Windows (XP) PC now. I thought about trying to use my Linux machine (which I am typing this on) but have low confidence that the driver will work on it either.

Since I discovered that I can email files to a local print shop and have heaps of pages printed for less than the cost of an ink cartridge I have decided to give up on printers unless I can find a retro one that works. My current printer will be going in the trash if I can't find a way to unblock the black print-head. Never buying an inkjet printer again!

Gotta have one! I already have a V4 standalone but i like the external ports on the A6000. Hoping on lower price on production run.
