@amigakit

I can’t guess. An A1200 motherboard?
If this is it I Hope that the speed of the memory is real fast and not as slow as an A1200.

@kamelito

Strange tease. It looks like a standard A1200 Motherboard, I wonder whether it will be compatible with the Amikit project & their A600gs. I hope they're not spreading themselves too thin.

I'm wondering whether this is an A600gs compatible motherboard in the A1200 form factor meant to go into original A1200 cases?

@Thread

I'm losing the plot of what we are trying to achieve at this point?! I guess the idea is that we have new A1200.net cases so why not fill them?!

Roll on the A600 Maxi as far as I'm concerned. Grow the market outside of this niche with nice new mainstream Arm hardware. The Mini has proved a great addition to the living room for ex-Amigans and retro computer lovers so why muddy the waters further with and diluting the impact of the Maxi launch? Is this the 2nd relaunch of the A1200? It didn't have legs for Escom. What's changed in 2025?!

"For people that don't want an Arm emulator A600GS, here's a more 'classic' hardware SKU!"

...is that the thought process?

"More A1200s to perpetuate PiStorm sales and keep the party going!"

...maybe that's it?

Very confusing teaser!

Interesting !

Speculation 1.
It’s a Re-Amiga or A1200 Plus project that slightly updates the A1200 motherboard. https://amigang.com/hardware-other-amigas/

Speculation 2.
It’s a A600gs re-done in to an a1200 type board with a1200 features.

Speculation 3.
A1222 Plus or new PPC board remade into a1200 style.

Speculation 4.
It something complete new, fpga? Fpga+pi storm? Re-Amiga+pi storm

Should be interesting. I really would like it to be the Amiga Fantasy system, a top end Amiga in a case like https://amigang.com/prototype-concept-amiga/

Best of luck with what ever it is, will be keeping an eye on it.

That's the thing: It looks like an A1200 motherboard.

I think it is an ARM-based board that fits into an A1200, with CF slot in place of PCMCIA, with Floppy drive and A1200 KB support, but with all the other things found on the A600GS, running AmiBench.

If so, this will definitely go into my spare A1200. The one that needs recapping but I haven't gotten round to it because the other two work fine.

Re-ReAmiga 1200.

There are USB ports where the external floppy port would usualy be.

Internal floppy port and power connector have been relocted and CN6 is possibly a new position for the external floppy port.

Separate HD power connector and fan header where the paralell port would usally be. Different infrastructure for the keyboard interface, possibly replacing the keyboard MPU and fixing the multiple keypress bug.

The infrastructure for the PCMCIA slot is different. edit. Actually it's CF interface.

My guess is this is the next move on from the 600GS. A full case this time with more ports.

I assume it'll also have a faster processor which really could be considered NG given the higher Orange Pi 5 models should be more powerful than *any* of the PowerPC machines.

@amigakit

This is awesome :)
I am excited about the potential move to ARM over PPC. We need cheaper hardware in order to get more users.

Sometimes for you to have good things you have to deal with bad ones first, all in the sake of engagement! Can you imagine the amount of posts this thread would generate,,, think about it!

@Karlos

Well that is always the thing, if something is changed, there will be people who object to said changes.

But I welcome a switch to ARM. Going PPC was a good and obvious choice way back then. But as we all know, circumstances change and so does the road travelled.

@Karlos

as usuall

2 things

1 stop this crap move from ppc

accept that other people may not want to switch from ppc after 27 years of use it

history memories etc

and may want ot use it to the end

2 provide something nice native fast easy to use up to date on arm that has some future

emulator or win 98 level os is not good enough

if you provide nice unix with amiga gui and graphcis with some tools
and ports of daily used software people will use it

@ppcamiga1

1) There is no "move". A very small minority of Amiga users invested in the PPC AmigaOne experiment! There was then a train crash for PPC and the survivors will slowly crawl back to 68k or 68k emulated on Arm or on FPGA! AROS continues on x86 and MorphOS is joining it!

2) AmigaKit are doing that very thing! For everyone else there is the MiSTer/The A500 Mini/ Vampire and all sorts of other options! Keep up!

I did quick google search and it looks like its got a page that been setup for A1200NG
https://www.amigakit.com/a1200ng-motherboard-p-91333.html

nothing there now, but on Google it says,

"A1200NG motherboard revision 3A Features: Games menu: add, edit & launch ADF/HDF/WHDBoot games, scene demos and apps (OCS, ECS & AGA)."

So its highly likely this is a A600GS type machine, but done in A1200 style.

First off, it's not a move from PPC. Secondly, put a phallus in it and be quiet.
