It's fairly straightforward. You need a PCMCIA network card plus drivers (either a 3com Etherlink or NE2000 compatible).
In Miami, there are two things you need to add. The first is the hardware itself, which is on a page called "hardware" or "interface" or something like that.
The second is called "connection" and you just need to add the interface you created above and set up an IP address or use DHCP.
Clicking connect should then put you on-line.
I'm working from memory here, but that should point you in the right direction.

Thanks for that. I have the card all set up and networked, its just the getting it to communicate with the hub I am unsure of. I have a DIALER and Interface set up but need to create another link with the hub. I will have a play. The BTHomehub is a computer in its own right ( ha ha ) and I have used the install CD in trad machines. Saying that the Mac just found it. Maybe the same with the Amiga.. I'll go try.

It should just operate as a hub/DHCP server. If Miami is getting an address from DHCP there shouldn't be anything else to do.
You may need to add it as a default gateway. Have you tried pinging it from the Amiga?

| If you choose to go the static route you will need to set your router IP address as both the gateway and the DNS server address.
I thought dialler was only set up when using a modem?
Isn't one of the options when running Miami_init to connect using ethernet? If so this is what you will need to select to connect via a hub.
I've been using genesis so long I've forgotten about the nuances of Miami.

It is. I can go online with Ethernet for my network or with Dialer for the modem when using YAM. I just need to configure another connection so I can use the broadband for the service. I don`t want to muck up those settings though cus I need to be able to use the Amiga online, and dialup is just an option at the mo.
Thanks for the help.. I am collating all that is said before having another go. I do have Genesis on the computer also so may try that.

I have the Amiga on the network no problem. The BTHomehub is a router also, and the other PCs and Mac can communicate no probs. On the PCs I had to use the CD that came with the BTHomehub to set things up. On the Amiga I did as you said but YAM says no stack and AWeb just doesn't work so I am guessing the Amiga isn`t being recognised by the BTHomehub or the Amiga doesn`t know how to get out for its internet usage. I was using DIALER before with a modem. But I am going online with the ethernet.
I also can`t seem to edit gateway settings as this is grayed out.
The Amiga is online cus I can see it from this machine. Its just not online with the BTHomehub. I can`t help but feel I need to tell the Amiga somehow to use the BTHomehub as its internet gateway.

Can't help with the HomeHub as I have no experience of using one, however it would be worth you testing your setup with a friends router / switch to find out whether you can talk to other computers using "standard" routing / switching hardware. Then you should be able to establish whether the Amiga is not set up correctly, or if it is the BT HomeHub.
The standard BT routers would only work with BT Internet. It may be the same with Homehub equipment, (ie: if the machine is not recognised by the Hub as a standard, then it will not allow it to connect.) DISCLAIMER: This is pure speculation!

If YAM says there is no stack, then you haven't gone online with Miami. I'm afraid I can't help much more as the machine with Miami on it is somewhat buried in the cupboard.
As was said, MiamiInit should be able to set up the required connections for you. You should be able to back up your current settings into another file, and then mess around as much as you like without risking losing them.

| Could never get DCHP and Miami to work with a router and Blueyonder. Works fine when using an IP address. Give that a try.

You lot are little gems, honestly. I hadn't thought about using the MiamiInit facility till you mentioned it. And it worked first time... except the dreaded bomb out cus I forgot to uncheck the printer option at the end... ( how many times have I done that ). Anyway it had an issue with DNS but worked passed that. And now she's running with broadband off the ethernet connected to the BTHomehub. I have lossed the Amiga off the network, which is no problem, I will sort that. Just needs the IPAddress and Workgroup resolving again. As you said though I can always reload the old config. Amazing bit of kit for 1993 technology... My goodness.
Happy days. And many thanks.

Hi
Can anyone point me to a FAQ on how to configure Miami to connect to a BTHomehub so I can utilise broadband on the A1200.

I'm sorry, but there seems to be a misunderstanding as FAQs for configuring Miami (presumably the operating system) on an AmigaBSD platform like BTHomehub are not readily available due to their outdated nature and compatibility issues with modern systems. You might want to refer to official Commodore documentation or community-driven resources, but they may be limited in scope for such legacy connections. |

Wow a response to a post I made in 2007. I did get the Amiga 1200 online albeit the dialup has now long since vanished from the house. I do believe I can still use it with broadband, but havn't used it in years.
Good to get the response even after 18 years.

I connect ma A4000 to Virgin Media router via an old Linksys 10/100 Mbit router because my network card will not recognized by the 100M/Gb router, but it will recognize the LinkSys 10/100.
So this is how I connect to Broadband.....
Amiga------------10/100mb Router-----------100/Gbit Cable modem/Router..
Hope this helps..
Wol..
