I'm the developer of the "Horny" MIDI-Sequencer and I cannot find the files for the OS3 version anymore. (The OS4 version is on OS4Depot)

Does anyone still have it and maybe even the original LHA files?

@Timo

I Googled, the .lha files - but the links are al dead.
And the other results from 'horny' had nothing to do with computers, let alone Amiga's ;)

@Timo

Checked my downloads from 2004 to 2014, but only os4 versions, sorry. You've got the sources, right?

@densho

The sources are on a hard disk far away, but I can ask for them. Anyway I don't have a system ready to compile them, it's a bit annoying. Hopefully on that disk there are the archives, too.
I just want to upload them to aminet, I don't have other plans. Someone was looking for it and asked me.

@Timo

I hope you'll find the archives somewhere.

Any plans to release Horny as open source?

That surely wouldn't hurt anything. But in a situation where we don't have developers who could work on their own new projects, it is even less likely that somebody will miraculously find the time and energy to wade through tons of foreign code. So I wouldn't hold out much hope that open-sourcing Horny will change anything.

I could do it for "historic" reasons, but the code is so bad that even for me it was difficult to work on it. I'm not sure now, but I guess I also wrote all function and variable names in German, just to make it more funny ;)
It's really unlikely that someone could do anything useful with this code...

Wow, I didn't expect that they even store archive files!
Downloaded and unpacked it, looks promising :)

@Timo

That's what every talented coder says about their code

I guess it wouldn't hurt if the code is available, at least it's better option than let the code rest on the hardrive, until the disk becomes unreadable...

Maybe someone who has too much spare time and german skills might take the task and progress with the code some day.

@densho

Ok, I just uploaded the OS3 version to aminet (still in the queue) and I'm trying to get the source code together to publish it on GitHub. Looks like I even have versions from two different hard discs, 0.1 and 1.3, to commit separately :)

Little story about the name "Horny": When I started this project, I didn't have a name yet. I told a friend all the time how proud I was about it and how cool it was. I used the German word "geil", it means "super cool", but also "horny". So my friend told me "Just call it Horny". It seemed appropriate to me back then, I was young ;) Sorry that it's a bit embarrassing...

Update:

Timo released the sources (thanks!) and there are some progress being done if the bugs in UI can be fixed:

@Timo

Thank you for making the code available.

Others on Amigans are making good progress.
Anything that advances MIDI on the Amiga makes me happy.

Sadly I have been unable to log in to Amigans, and the "click here for lost password" is not working either.

Making my first pass through the code, I have replaced all the deprecated calls, corrected type mismatches. I also removed the "in" or "out" filtering for cluster names.

Great to see the program will be around for a while.

Thank You Sir.

Cool, I'm happy to see some work on it :)

I saw the thread on Amigans, but I don't have an account for it. Would be nice if someone of the programmers wrote me an email (it's inutilis.com instead of inutilis.de now). Or I will just create an account.

@Timo
Do you think its better if we will use your GitHub repo and send you pull-requests?

@lylehaze
Can you share your code so I can put it on GitHub, or, instead make a GitHub repo yourself with last changes?
