Which classic Amiga productivity software would you bring back?

AmigaKit bought the rights to OctaMed and re-released it with new features. Good on them for that. ImageFX is still around. Pagestream is still unfinished...

What other classic productivity software would you like to see brought back and 'refreshed' if only the original source code could be found and the original owners willing to sell it or give it to someone to refresh? Very hypothetical I know.

I'd choose:

Photogenics

ProVector

Deluxe Music 2

@Mobileconnect

None in their original form, but several did show a lot of potential which with the right updates could fit nicely into a 2025 workflow:

- ADP

- ImageFX

- Final Writer

- The animation part of Deluxe Paint

- Scenery Animator

Final Writer - arguably better than M$ Word for quite some time
Storm C - I played around a lot with this IDE, V3 if I remember correctly

@codis

IBrowse (which kinda made a come back, but would be cool if it could do real modern internet!)

Blitz Basic / AMOS with Ai to help you easily code, would be cool.

I would say SCALA, but Hollywood / Hollywood Designer feels like spiritual successor.

Dpaint, but I do like PPaint. So again not a big one.

Directory Opus, I mean the last version release for Amiga and slight modded version with Amikit XE, is pretty dam good, but it would be cool to bring over the latest version.

Wordworth, or even any modern office / doc program ported to Amiga would be good. Abiwork wasnt too bad on OS4. Google Doc was even better, but it only worked for a small time on Timberwolf / odyssey bowsers.

@Mobileconnect

? IBrowse

Not really maybe OWB is better

? Blitz Basic / AMOS

Not really SDL Basic or something similar, with an option for X-Platform development

? Dpaint, but I do like PPaint.

Not really Any Pixel oriented paint Programm with animation support (lighttable, rotoscope)

? Directory Opus

Not really A file manager that is seamlessly integrated into workbench, generating thumbnails for image and video formats.

? Wordworth

A working version of Finalwriter and a lot of plug ins

@Mobileconnect

I quite liked fxPaint and Photogenics back in the day. And I used Wordworth a lot, but if the new Final Writer materializes in the end, I'll be fine with it.

Maybe Aladdin 4D since A-Eon has owned the rights to the Amiga version for over a decade.

@Mobileconnect

I suppose it depends if we are discussing software for OS4 or Classic Amigas.

Back in the day, I didn't have an accelerator card in my Amiga 2000HD, so most of my software was limited to 68000 CPU compatibilty.

I used Final Writer 97, AmigaVision, Microfiche Filer, MaxiPlan spreadsheet and Appetizer suite.

Final Writer 97 works ok directly on AmigaOS4.

The others work ok with AmigaOS 3.1 running on e-uae emulator running on AmigaOS4.

For me, TV Paint and PPaint also work fine on AmigaOS4.

I had a problem with Imagine ... I think I got a PAL version and it did not fit on my screen.

I would like to see more modern versions of
Final Writer 97
TV Paint
PPaint
an Organiser/diary/calender type program (with option to use Sunday to Saturday week)
Web Browser

I currently use IgnitionOS4 for spreadsheets.

DraCo's Movie Shop NLE software decoupled from the DraCo half-baked Amiga clone for faster AmigaOS 3.x, AmigaOS 4.1 FE, A-EON System 54, and MorphOS compatible hardware.

PiStorm-Emu68 and PowerPC can handle MPEG2.

@OneTimer1

This is why I have moved to an "NG" platform long time ago :)

Wayfarer is much better than OWB. I only use Odyssey for one site where I don't remember the password, which is saved in Odyssey :P But pretty soon when Wayfarer was released, it was obvious that Odyssey has been obsoleted.

I think Hollywood is a modern replacement for these kinds of high-level languages. I've been happy to be productive with it anyway!

That's Ambient, been happy with it for ages.

Why FinalWriter wouldn't work? Works on MorphOS at least... but anyway, we know that we have hope for an updated FinalWriter, progress is just slow.

@Thread

DPaint - Still requires some polish and an RTG mode if possible! The UNDO extended to a history of edits rather than just one!

Photogenics- A level of polish should be applied to version 5. A bit unstable but very nice!

Draw Studio 2 - A great vector graphics package. Could do with more plugins for different file formats.

Bar and Pipes - The go to Amiga MIDI program. Needs to be given the Octamed upgrade treatment!
