@all

I have a guess of what's playing on DvPlayer... Predator? That looks like the opening of Predator (1) when Dutch's men are arriving at the jungle, before exiting the chopper.

@amigakit

One question: for those of us in the US, what does the VAT do to the price? Do we pay VAT also, or is there some other type of import duty we pay instead? I'm not trying to get a reduced price, just looking for clarification.

Thanks!

@mr_homm

I always wondered the same thing, so I did a little math.

VAT in the UK is 17.5%. OS4.1 is $105.00 euro, plus VAT ($18.38 euro) is about $123.38 euro.

Amigakit is selling OS4.1 for $165.90 USD, that's $110.60 euro today.

So it seems North America is paying an extra $5.60 euro vs $18.38 VAT in the UK.

Doesn't look like we're paying VAT.

Thanks! That partly offsets the weak dollar for us.

With insured shipping I paid closer to $180 for OS 4.1 (preorder). That's
going to discourage some users but maybe it will get discounted after
it's been available for a couple of months. I doubt if the cost of OS
updates can be substantially reduced unless there is more hardware to
install it on.

@Xenic

I expected shipping & handling to be added. I have a trip to Seattle coming up at the end of the month, so haven't pre-ordered. I will upgrade when I recover from the trip.

To see my Sister & Brother in Mountlake Terrace. I have an Aunt up in Canada, so me & my Sister will go see her first weekend I get there. Be up there from Aug 21st to Sept. 1st.

I may have to wait till Amiwest to buy 4.1.

Considering the huge U.S budget deficit, no wonder

When you buy through our US webstores (www.amigakit.us and usa.amigakit.com), there is no VAT added. VAT is only for European and UK customers.

@tomazkid

We have a Federal tax we pay once a year on what we make & most States have a sales tax on what we buy plus a State tax on earnings. Throw in Federal & State gas tax & we're hit pretty hard here.

You think you're hit hard, don't come to Denmark then

I think the update is a bit pricey, but it's understandable enough as the market is small.

One question though, why isn't it possible to buy and download a file with the update would save many people a lot of money.
