As itix wrote, MorphOS reports the information provided by the OpenFirmware. If it's not a hardware issue, it might "just" be a quite messed up version of the OpenFirmware. I remember a batch of Pegasos2 that came with an OF version that halved (!) memory transfer speed, for instance.
It would be more useful if you actually gave the Openfirmware version and the motherboard revision.
