Bummer, I would be suspicious of my home electricity wiring and investing in a current smoothing / surge protector.
Hope it gets fixed soon. |

| Thanks guys.
Im hopefull because nothing works, no fans, no drives nothing.
So heres hoping for the ps. If it realy is dead i cant afford or justify a new ng amiga. I might go for aros or morphos on a cheap mac, but that is an emgency scenario

Oh no! Hope you manage to bring it back to life.
Fingers crossed it's just the psu. _________________ Troll - n., A disenfranchised former potential customer who remains interested enough to stay informed and express critical opinions. opp., the vast majority who voted silently with their feet. |

Check out if you have something connected to USB - for me if there is FLASH Stick inserted into USB - Amiga won`t boot at all.
But if you have no life - its definitely power problem. You will need new power [UPS?] with fan. _________________ nykk | deetronic.rs | youtube.com/djnykk | gfx.river | mamavolibebu.com |

First try getting new power, complete boards rarely die. Its often that the cheap power supplies die first, I hope. _________________ OS 3.x AROS and MOS supporter, fi di good, nothing fi di unprofessionalism. Learn it harder way! Sounds like it's the PSU since the fan etc don't run. You can test the PSU very easily without having to connect it to another system by using a small piece of wire, preferably shielded, to bridge the PS_ON signal on the ATX conector to of the common grounds on the ATX connector.
PS_ON is green and all the common grounds are all black. Once you've done that you can turn the switch on at the back and if it's working the fan should spin up.
Most PSUs have a fuse on the board in addition to the one in the plug. Sometimes if you're lucky it is held in a fuse holder but if you are handy with a soldering iron you can swap it over fairly easily too. Worth a shot since if it works it'll save the cost of a replacement if it fixes it.
Opening a PSU shouldn't be scary if you use a little common sense and caution.
Good luck with getting it running again and I hope it's just the PSU. |

Oh no!
I'm with everyone on the PSU. A friend got one of the first Sam EP models preboxed imported into the country and shortly after using it the machine just went dead. The PSU was at fault. Although IIRC there were LEDs on board lit.
The 460 is a young board so if it has turned faulty it should still be covered by ACube. We await and see... |

| This morning my pc died, same thing as the 460 and when i think about it the same as my XE . I hva a surge protector wich connected to poweroutlet box/strip with a switch on it to that all my computer equipment is connected. My monitor printer modem and all still work. Ill check for a fuse in the psu but other psus i have laying around also do not help. Ill try to switch onthe psu by connecting the switch wire to ground li, e rob said. But then im out of options. Btw my gitls pc still works, well sort of, it aint broken though its just a windows thing.... btw that one is her fora year now and not connected to mydescibed power setup.
Sorry for typos, im on this stupid tablet now...
Thanks
Btw i put the sam in the same housing as the xe was it it worked so back tgen the psu was fine
Edit psu turns on when connecting the green tothe black wire
The pc is dead in the water, and i have no reason whatsoever to think the sam is any different Last edited by Metalheart on 22-Oct-2013 at 12:52 PM. Last edited by Metalheart on 22-Oct-2013 at 11:51 AM. Last edited by Metalheart on 22-Oct-2013 at 11:39 AM.

Common problem in three systems! There must be something wrong with the power source on your place. However to make you feel better I have to share at least two cases with problems due to electricity power.
In the first case my 1200 psu just blown up, after I tried to turn it on, yes that simple.... My 1200 and stuff -including BPPC, Bvision, hard disk and mobo-, remained untouched and ok.
Second case with my 4000, a bad power connection on the psu almost fried ny mobo, it was fixed as only the two cia chips were dead. CSPPC, Picaso IV, Denneb and other stuff, remained alive.
What I am trying to point is that the case to have all your systems, completely dead -Sam, XE, PC- is the worst of the worst IMO. Last edited by Morphix on 22-Oct-2013 at 01:42 PM.

Yeah, it seemsthat those systems of mine died in the same way. But why ? And why is everything else unharmed like my girls pc and mac.
Powerproblem is possible but i cant imagine that being the cullprit, but i have to rule that out or other new systems are going to blow up aswel...
Anyway im looking into a new pc system to atleast get my mail up and running again and if my sam is realy dead i going to try to have it fixed by acube. Ogherwise im going to be stuck with aros or morpos as anything else isnt going to be finacial viable to me anymore

I blame your "surge protector". Wouldn't be surprised if it's killing your equipment rather than protecting them. |

I second that.
@Metalheart
What is the status of your XE?
Well I would test machine by machine with new PSU and new power cable on another room, connected straight on the wall and not in any kind of "surge protector" etc.
ps. And unplug your other systems from there asap.

Yes i was thinking that aswel, the surge protector, but have no clue as to why or how. Anyo n e has any idea about that ?
I sold my xe board together with the os4 cd.
Almost got a n other pc up and running but the usb doesnt work, but 7m only worried about my sam, this realy realy sucks......
Ther surge protector and outlett switch thingy are no longer in use. I changed psus and checked if they worked, no effect.... The psu from my broken pc now works fine with the new pc board.
