The existing tools are more than enough for competent developers. Various PS3 exclusives are already way more impressive than any of the 360 exclusives (despite being on the market much longer and more similarity with legacy solutions / common tools) and things will only improve as times go on.

Announced in May 28 - 29, 2008 France, Far Cry 2 also uses "deferred rendering".

Even some multi-platform developers acknowledged that PS3 development practices are well superior to anything Microsoft recommends. Sure if you are a Direct X Windows programmer the 360 is easier to develop for, but that counts for porting to any non-Microsoft platform. (SNIP)

I was very happy to read about this recently. I think the PS3 will move ahead of the competition in the not too distant future... I have always said it was a matter of time...

This isn't the first time PS3 sales have been ahead of the Wii, it just doesn't last. One reason is Wii releases have been lackluster in Japan lately... This is actually going to be a good year for Wii releases starting this month in the US anyway. |

Recently rumors surfaced that Microsoft will off the Elite. Well, kinda. The Elite consoles that will be available in these areas would be more like the recent Resident Evil 5 Red Elite Limited Edition console, rather than the standard Elite package that Microsoft has offered in the past. System+game+special color.
With the change for all consoles to have HDMI and growth in the HD there's nothing much setting the system apart. I suppose the 'special color and graphics' of your favorite game might make it attractive for a limited release. Also it may be plus by more clearly cementing Sony as the more expensive option. (Well unless those predicted PS3 price cuts come soon.)
One additional rumor source says Microsoft will offer a HD of 250GB for the same price as the 120GB drive. Bringing a nice update for Arcade and Premium owners alike. |

If they are going to revise the Elite to truly be elite, throw in a built-in BR drive. Then what will the PS3 have on an equally priced 'Elite'? Ah yes, the theoretically superior CELL.
I wonder if they named that cpu after the Dragonball Z character. Lots of similarities... In theory, Cell was a perfect being. He needed additional androids to become 'complete' (see NVidia)...but those same androids that had lots of energy but limited growth potential. Cell was defeated by the sheer drive and determination of the Z fighters who always rise to the challenge and exceed their prior limitations.
PS: Dragonball Z was the #1 show on the planet for like 4 years straight not to mention the most searched term on the internet for a long time. |

I doubt we'll see Blu-Ray on the 360. There is little reason for Microsoft to help Sony with having to pay licensing fees for a Blu-Ray drive or encouraging Blu-Ray movie sales.

Well, Toshiba makes BR drives as well. I doubt we'd see a Sony BR drive in a 360, but how about an LG or Toshiba? I mean, what is Sony's licensing fee on those drives? It's small change and if it takes away market share, it pays for itself many times over... |

No big surprise about Wii games... the heavy hitters yet have to come this year (MH3, The Conduit, Mad World...) The rest of Wii games is just rubbish (and I'm a Wii fan). People is starting to understand the SH trend and reads reviews before buyig. These are just the results.
Now if only more SH would follow the leading...
PS: Capcom just announced RE0 to be distributed in USA and Resident Evil (Yes, the first one) remake for Wii (also this to be distributed in USA) No words about European distribution yet.

There are several BR players sub PS3 prices. If one isn't worried about games the PS3 is less attractive for a BR player. The PS3 may be the best BR player evar. But, Joe consumer doesn't buy that justifies the extra expense.
I'm not sure what Sony's cut is but they do get a cut on every player made and ever movie sold relating to BR.
BTW, I have an LG BR/HD DVD hybrid drive in my HTPC. Very nice. |

| Madworld FTW! Boy, MikeB, those kiddies will love this one...
In this shot you see all 4 colors that the game uses. It got a strong meta-review. http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/13/metareview-madworld/
I own it. It's just bust-a-nut fun!
Here's a stage where you have to throw as many people into that airplane's turbine as possible:
Also, I played Pikmin (as I never finished it on the GC) for the Wii. I am at awe at what they did with the graphics. I don't know if it's full-screen AA or what but it wasn't a simple adaption to wide-screen ratio. It's beautiful. It's one of those games where you really can't tell it's only 480p... PSP/ 59,568 PS3/ 39,835 DSi/ 32,102 Wii/ 16,560 Xbox 360/ 14,994 DS Lite/ 11,240 PS2/ 4,954
Darn, I was wrong but it was close. 360 almost sold more than Wii. I was right about the PS3 though. |
