| I just run MorphOs 3.12 live cd and it works. My configuration is powermac g5 quad with 8 gb ram and 2 500gb seagate hd sata. About video card I have a powermac edition geforce 6600 to boot into powerfirmware and an ati x1900gt (not powermac edition but a standard pc card) to boot into morphos.
Later I'll try to install it on powermac whitout overwrite macos x leopard and ubuntu ppc 16.04, finger crossed!
I'ts first time I use Morphos and I have to admit it seems really a big piece of software, also its gui and colors are superb, much much better than all trash gui used under windows and linux worlds..
Long live MorphOS! _________________ Pegasos II G4@1GHz 2GB Radeon 9250 256MB AmigaOS4.1 fe - MorphOS - Debian 9 Jessie |

Caution!
Chrysalis is composed and set up for a specific OS version, and the Chrysalis version must be matched by exact version number of the OS. There is a Chrysalis for 3.11, but not yet for MorphOS 3.12. It usually takes some time for Papiosaur to release a new version after an OS release, and it could be that a 3.13 bugfix release is only a couple of weeks away, so... |

I'm using morphos 3.12 on mac quad g5, all works ok even if it's not officially supported. Only networking il ko due on board sungem gigabit chip not recognized. The fastest solution seems to buy a new pcie realtek 8168 eth board for about 10 euro. ..the perfect solution could be enable support for onboard ethernets for 0 euro
About gfx boards: I'm using an ati x1900gt (shappire rev.2 with full lenght heatspreader in red color) with pc standard bios on slot 2 (pcie 8x). Instead in the main pcie 16x slot there's still the nvidia 6600 mac edition gfx card.
In this combination mac displays OF on nvidia card, but MorphOS boots on ati card.
I tried to flash the ati with a mac bios but it doesn't worked, maybe due the different pcb layout of rev2 where extra power supply is in the middle and not at the top, like the original mac edition one.
If someone in MorphOS team needs feedbacks about network and gfx board support, I can help for sure!
Is someone has suggestion for gfx flash and onboard sungem recognition please let me know Thanks! _________________ Pegasos II G4@1GHz 2GB Radeon 9250 256MB AmigaOS4.1 fe - MorphOS - Debian 9 Jessie |

OK, now how about them, benchmarks? I do have one Quad stashed in the corner that surely needs some care regarding liquid cooling system but should be working otherwise. I wonder will it be much faster than my trusty olde DP 2,7 GHz. |

G5 quad in single core should be similar to your 2,7ghz version. Maybe sightly faster in some specific program, due improved fsb and cpu cache
I just resolved the networking issue adding a minipci to pcie wifi adapter. I had a Atheros minipci card rescued from a not working notebook. It was recognized at boot by morphos, the only issue was I had to configure it manually because with dhcp and automatic dns there wasn't a real connection with my isp router.
I hope in next release there will be a full support for g5 quad onboard ethernet ports, meanwhile I'll use wifi! _________________ Pegasos II G4@1GHz 2GB Radeon 9250 256MB AmigaOS4.1 fe - MorphOS - Debian 9 Jessie |

I signed up just to thank you for what you posted in this thread! I've got my G5 quad up and running with MorphOS thanks to your tips!
Bought a network card based on the chipset you mentioned, and picked up a cheap X1900XT (PC version) as I also had an nvidia card on board.
Left the nvidia in slot 1 to allow use of openfirmware and optionally OSX, with the X1900XT in slot 2, and the network card in slot 4. All perfect, everything worked out of the box.
Thanks for all the things you mentioned in here, made my journey nice and simple!

Have fun
I'm waiting for official support to register my morphos copy, meanwhile I'm releasing some apps for morphos coming back to programming hobby. My last amiga was an A4000 with cyberstorm and a gfx card (I don't remember the exact one..) and I'm very happy after about 20 years to come back with a super amiga: PowerPC G5@2500MHz
Thanks a lot to MorphOS team to make it possibile ..Meanwhile I'm waiting for Tabor (or something better like acube notebook) for OS4 (or OS5?)

| IMPORTANT!!! (or in fact VERY IMPORTANT :) )
Please register your MorphOS G5 PCIe machines. We (MorphOS Team) need to know how many users can use G5 machines to add more support for that (for very low registration numbers. adding network drivers will have low priority). Paying is not necessary, just use RegTool and send info about your devices. |

On my G5 Quad with 7800Gtx (16x) and a RadeonHD 6570 2GB (8x) ... only a White Screen. Same if i use 7800GTx on 8x and RadeonHD on 16x.
I have the feeling some gpus compatible with X5000 morphos are not included in the kernel of Morphos for G5. _________________ I love Amiga and new hope by AmigaNG A 500 + ; CDTV; CD32; PowerMac G5 Quad 8GB,SSD,SSHD,7800gtx,Radeon R5 230 2GB; MacBook Pro Retina I7 2.3ghz; #nomorea-eoninmyhome |

I suggest you to buy an old Ati x1900gt/xt and try with it, maybe it could be used as 3th gfx card on a free 8x slot This solution is much better than our beloved QEMU, you'll have the fastest amiga ever produced.. I suggest you to buy also a PCIe realtek 8168/8100 or a wifi c morphoos compatible card Atheros or broadcom chipsets for networking, due the still unsupported onboard pcie gigabit ethernet ports. _________________ Pegasos II G4@1GHz 2GB Radeon 9250 256MB AmigaOS4.1 fe - MorphOS - Debian 9 Jessie |

I think the problem is a little bit more profound than that Gigi, but i think it’s wise advice never to disturb the ostriches 😉
Who cares anyway, I’ve noticed quite a noticeable upturn in my OS4 gaming experience since picking up a cheap R9 270X in my local CEX. Let’s just say things run quite a bit faster especially compared to a 7750 😉Last edited by outrun1978 on 11-Nov-2019 at 01:58 PM.
