Jaca did a demo of 3.20 on a Mirari at the World of Commodore a few months ago...

Obviously we are all eagerly awaiting 3.20 :)

I was really impressed, for the Mirari basically being at G4 levels of performance overall, it was rocking!

It is not a G5, does it has Altivec or was that a dead end?

@OneTimer1

The current Mirari cpu offering does not have Altivec.

There is another CPU offering that is compatible with the Mirari, that is faster and has Altivec. This offering is what many users are hoping for at some point. I know the Mirari Team hopes to offer that option at some point.

From what I saw, Jaca's Mirari runs about the same as my PowerBook G4, give or take here and there.

For most things the Mirari would be perfect for MorphOS as it is today. The 2.5 PCIe and 2.7 PCIX PowerMacs are still the most powerful, capable, inexpensive, and widely available hardware offering in MorphOS land anyways.

Crazy that a $200 PowerMac can easily smoke a $2,000 X5000 for performance. Not to mention they are reliable and sorted (assuming you choose the right models). The OS4 camp should have went the direction of MorphOS and just skipped their own hardware and just focused on the software and OS.

I'm hoping for success for the Mirari and will be picking my own up to help the efforts and hoping for the faster altivec version at some point. That may even be as fast as the G5's and will certainly generate less heat.

New production vs old/used stock. My 30 EUR netbook is probably as fast as Mirai board.

You know, when they were built, they could compete with Intel PCs.

But after all this years, the really available PPC systems have hardly increased in performance, if such a PPC board could compete with a RasPI4 (in performance and price) less people would argue against them.

The 'hardware partner' is paying for the AOS4 port and he is selling the OS, this was written down in the contracts and I don't thing Hyperion has the money paying the developers for a version that could run on used Macs. AOS4 is a legal mess and it may fade away slowly.

That is the unfortunate fate of all Amiga related things.

I would argue after Apple, PPC went backwards in performance particularly for Amiga Flavors. They for the most part achieved the best performance you could get.

@OneTimer1

for that business modell you must find hardware partner who are willing to pay for adaption of a obscure OS with only few users. So no, the model is at the end now. If Hyperion wants to sell licenses today they have to support the hardware, like morphos team

or game over
