@amigakit

Would one of these be compatible?

Does the A600GS have any serial port functionality? Null-modem connections/serial devices like graphics tablets etc?

I think USB has largely replaced RS232 for input devices in the last few years.

Seems a bit pricey and it would need drivers on the host OS side.

Yeah, so there is no physical serial port and there is no driver for adapters which provide one so can I take from what you've said that is unlikely that you could null-modem link this to any other classic Amiga or another A600GS for two-player link-up games, nor could you use Amiga compatible serial graphics tablets? I suspect that parallel port interfaces like audio samplers would be a no go too? I'd like to consider this as a competitor offering something more than the Amiga Mini but unless it can act like a fully functional Classic Amiga and outdo the Mini or offer something extra other than the AmiStore then it's a hard sell to people like me I'm afraid.

@BigD

The A600GS already has a three pin RS232 serial header on the PCB (Tx, Rx, GND). If there is a demand for it, we can supply a simple cable to plug onto it.

Under emulation the drivers need to be on the host side so "Amiga compatible" means nothing under that context.

Applications such as Photogenis work perfectly with USB tablet drivers on OS4 and it shouldn't be a big deal under emulation either.

I suspect that parallel port interfaces like audio samplers would be a no go too?

A USB sound card could be used as a 16-bit sampler via AHI.

@Rob

What classic software has support for USB graphics tablets and USB sound cards? If there are serial pins on the board surely that's the way to go?

Nope. Though many devices offer rs232 also over USB, most systems have debug and/or console on old fashioned serial port still.

And the serial port of "the Amiga" is available there?
Or would it just be tty on the host linux system?
