Hi guys.
I had a long break of playing with AmigaOS and MorphOS then.
Last 8-10 years I work only with Linux. Original Amiga hardware sold out. MacMini (MorphOS) stored deeply and covers with dust.
Neverthless AmigaOS addiction is too strong and came out recenly. I recalled AmiKIT I have played with a little one day.
Today there is a bootable USB Plug N'Play disk available. I have watched several videos presenting AmiKIT 12 in action and IMO it's absolutely amazing how it's precisely configured up to the very last detail. DOpus5, MUI, MCP. I used to love that and I want them back.

Please, let me know if I'm wrong (got an 64-bit PC with a raw, empty, internal HDD):
1. After booting up from that USB stick I'll be able to run Installer and install a full system (a Linux) with AmiKIT on top of it. True?
And questions:
2. What kind of Linux (what distro) will appear on my HDD after the installation?
3. Will the boot process from internal HDD run same way as from original AmiKIT USB after installation?

I dont have that stick myself so this is just how I asume it works after reading the description on the Amikit ordering page.

When you boot from the stick you can use AmiKit directly from there, I doubt you will be able to install directly from that environment.
To use it on your Linux I think you must boot your own linux and run the installer from there.

Jan, the author of AmiKit is out of town on work and when he gets back, I will send him a note
to get ahold of you. I have been using AmiKit for years and it is by far the best Amiga to use for
Amigans with out the REAL things !

@r-tea

it is not difficult to get amikit running under linux, just download the free amikit 11 windows version.

download a linux you wish, i install linux mint ( that let me install Steam and Windows Games over Proton playable and it owns nvidia drivers ) but there are more Linux Gaming ISOS around like Nobora.

Write the Linux Image on a USB Stick over Pi Imager or what tool you trust.

Boot from USB Stick, bootin into Linux.

Now Install Linux on your Harddrive (most linux have a helper tool for that)

Boot into Linux, get into the AppManager and search amiberry else you can install amiberry directly if you are Pro. Amiberry is free and a Amiga Emulation like WinUAE just Linux but you will need Kickstart.rom (this is not free).

Now copy the Amikit.hdf to the Amiberry and start Amiberry and setup a 1200, 68040 fastet possible Amiga with 1Gb Ram and UAEGrafics Zorror3. (you can take this infos from the config of the amikit install under "config" all winuae settings are shown. just copy them to Amiberry and load the amikit.hdf as Harddrive, add another Drive Dropbox and set it to any folder and another drive Rabbithole set it to some other folder.

Start Amikit and the Resolution will be wrong, go under Amikit/Prefs/Screenmode and hopefull you will see the 1920x1080 resolutions. When not go into Amikit:Storage/Monitors and copy the UAE* to amikit:devs/Monitors (should be uaegfx) reboot and try again screenmode.

I got no big Problems running that under Linux Mint, just the free version is not updated and have very old amiSSL and so on, you do need to update much manuel or buy a license to stay update....

i just telling there are "other" distros that are fully configed and even own a lil better software, faster updates and more features and they are free to download but at end all is personal likes, if you get good with amikit then it will be the best.
