I just have been able to pre-order myself. So now there are at least 58 pre-orders. |

Together with 6 OS4 users who bought Papyrus before the pre-order, that would make 64, right?

Bump
But Titan say they had 57 pre-orders and I should imagine that included the 6 that have been mentioned?

I very much doubt it, afaik they don't yet have a developer machine!

| And we thought that there must have been much more pre orders then shown in this poll.....
58.... pathetic
Sorry, just pathetic....
I reckon that if the 60 pre orders are reached, and Papyrus is shipping and available for normal orders, not much more will be sold anyway
If I were a software developer I would say, thanks but no thanks, and try to earn a living elsewere !
Cheers,
Martin

I would pre-order, I just don't have a means of doing so - The website will not accept Maestro or Switch and I don't have a Visa or MasterCard :o/

Well, 60 pre-orders are required on a short notice. I think that over a longer term, more people would order for sure. |

I believe a vast majority of people would rather read an in depth OS4 review (@ for example Amiga Future, Total Amiga Magazine, aMiGa=PoWeR, etc) before actually buying Papyrus. If I have the time, I may write one for AW if an AmigaOS4 version is done.
Also for overlapping uses many Amigans seem to prefer Pagestream, a great quality application which most of us are already familiar with. Papyrus (and the port by Titan) still has to prove itself within the community. Last edited by MikeB on 29-Jun-2005 at 07:51 PM.

I ordered it by bank payment....
@those who did not pre order 'cause of lack of funds, lack of confidence in pre ordering, lack of OS4 etc... I do NOT blame you !
@the rest
I'm just dissapointed about this whole thing, 'cause according to 'that other poll' a LOT more people where interested, and we all thought that more people who did not vote in this poll would have pre ordered.
Also going by sales of existing apps, well, I dont expect a LOT of total Papyrus sales.
Maybe I'm overreacting, but I'm so sick of this. This way AmigaOS will never get enough serious apps, and not many will purchase an expensive AmigaOne, and even less developers will do their thing and so on...
Cheers,

Well, I wasn't going to order at all but in the end (when it seemed that we only needed 2 more people) I decided to order just because I can.
I'm sure that interest will increase when an OS4 version is ready and Papyrus has had a chance to impress it's the community (or not)!
I think it's more up to them than any of us. A modern still devevloped word processor for the Amiga doesn't grow on trees (as my grandmother used to say ) so it shouldn't be hard to gather a following in this area. Wouldn't have said no to a new version of Wordsworth though.

| Are we so few people around anymore? I'll better buy it (local dealer) if it has good reviews and not just a download this and that version. If (What was this win text) works and offcourse FinalWriter texts should too for me. An update to FinalWriter would have me preordered like IB or any other great proggy (like Miami was). Never used papyrus before so hard to preorder as FW works on A1 too now with Your great advice, Thanks!
Still looking for good programs to buy only for os4, the 3,5 I bought in my last life is not worth it as it has anything it should or could have...

| It says 65 now. Does that mean 3 more VALID preorders?!? I think it does.
So Eyetech, lets ship some µA1's now so we can get some more stuff for OS4

Do you honestly expect everyone to pre-order an application they have no previous experience with?
I have used PageStream a LOT and was one of the first to jump on their band wagon when they announced an OS4 version would be coming. Previous experience counts for a heck of a lot of credibility when it comes to pre-ordering stuff. As it is, I spent a bloody fortune on PageStrem and haven't really been able to utilise it yet. So the chance of me doing the same with an application I DON'T know anything about is rather slim.
Come back when there is a product and we'll have a look. If it's useful to me, I'll purchase. If it isn't, then don't expect a sale on my end... _________________ This weeks pet peeve: Using "voltage" instead of "potential", which leads to inventing new words like "amperage" instead of "current" (I, measured in A) or possible "charge" (amperehours, Ah or Coulomb, C). When the number reached 59 Amiga Auckland Inc. our user group placed an order as obviously did several others. We have a policy of buying as a club examples of hardware and software that we believe will be of interest to members in making a decision to buy so that they can try it and make up their minds. So far we have an A1 G4XE, and have ordered a µA1 but Papyrus Office for OS4 is the first OS4 software ordered for the machine under this policy.
When not required for updating the A1 has begun a round of non-A1 members for a looksee on the understanding that they are not to mess round within unless authorised by the exec to do so, or allow anyone else to do that. Also we point out that this is work in progress, most apps being OS3x stuff running under emulation, while OS4 itself has a way to go. This process has just begun and immediately ran into a difficulty - many members just do not have room for another machine! With the A1 goes a modem and an internet account (amigaak3) so they don't have to fool round with connections. Several of our members have never yet experienced the joys and pains of the internet.
