That would be a nice range in price, but I was just basing mine on the suggested price for the A1 1GHz CPU that Adam announced. Who knows what kind of pricing he can come up with as a bundle (board+CPU+OS4).
I'm sure there will still be a market for the Troika board, if/when it ever comes out. It will still be more restricted from an expansion stand point, so that is why I still think there is a market for both.

| Ill buy the new 1.7ghz with the motherboard even if i have a1xe. still first i want to see how it works for the people that buys it when it comes. Bugs etc. We have bugs on a1, maybe there will be some in the ack ones too.
Still ddram2, 1.7ghz, usb2, ghzethernet (not really need but nice). etc. Food for my ears.

Running OS4 on a 1.7GHz board will be a thrill, (yes even at $1000). |
The $1000 was a guestimate before the extra 3 slots were considered. He said that might translate to another $50 manufactured cost and pointed out that could multiply by 2.5 to 3 , final cost. It is evident people prefer the 2 groups of 3 slots to just one group.
If this board leaves the faults of the A1 behind it will be a winner.

heh, personally I'd listen to DaveAE's statement there, being involved in several attempts at 'issues resolution' on the A1s...

We need a really small board with a CPU in the G4 1GHz class that sells for sub $150.. You know a case, harddrive, DVD-burner, memory, keyboard and mouse has to be added to the cost. OS4 offers too little for anyone outside to take a chance on a system that costs more than $400 for a complete system. IMHO of course. |
Won't happen for a very long time, if ever. SoC designs will drop the cost somewhat, but it's not going to hit the price point you mentioned above, when the cost of the components even at bulk pricing goes over the cost of the 'retail price' you outlined.
Double or triple it, and maybe. A $400 'system' is still a geek 'entertainment' system, and might be sellable.

Mid-range Bigbox CPU+"High end" Mobo @1GHz $350 USD (possible mid range) without OS4/ but running Linux
is a good price.
Otherwise I would go for Efika and possibly PowerVixxen. You know, I am not rich like Amigans. |
Unsure how you're possibly expecting those prices? See if AMy'05 is more in line, but I'm not seeing how the above will happen with this ACK board, unless you also buy it without a CPU...

Well that top one ($650) was quoting me. I based it upon the previous announced price of $500 for the 1GHz CPU card and $850 for the 1.7GHz. Then Adam said the 1.7GHz with new mobo would be about $1000 USD. Just applied that same price difference to the 1GHz CPU and came up with $650.
As for FithisUX, I don't know where he came up with $350... Probably from a wish list or a point of "this price will sell alot of boards", but I think my "mockup" is more realistic.

He lowered your price by $300 by removing OS4 from the package. And $300 is the cost of PV (including OS4) meaning that when you buy PV you pay only for the OS4, the hardware is free. Nice, isn't it? |

OS4 OEM going for $300? I'm pretty sure that must be wrong.

Adam/ACK/whomever....is the 'demo' not supposed to be tomorrow?
Are we taking best on yes or no yet, or does it just seem odd no confirmation for tomorrow has been maade?

But he is talking about the cpu module only, not the new board. _________________ AmigaOne XE G3/933/VIA/FM801/R200 (fixed), G3SE/600/Voodoo3/Sil680/RTL8139/SBLive! (noiseless!) µA1-MK2/G3/933/R200/CMI8738 XE/G4 (broken 7450/800) |

| @Jorge True, but the fact remains no one has heard from him recently, and the schedule/items above are the last 'official word.'
