Oh yes! No problem. Just add x86 into the equation and this thread starts looking like a disturbed hornets' nest . Might even attract Rogue to participate...

Ok, here we go: I suppose the chip we can see on the left is a Pentium M that is used for the upcoming, completely x86-based operating system "AmigaOS 5.0" that Hyperion will release by Christmas.

But I wonder if 667mhz is enough for the people who hasn't yet bought an AmigaONE?

The following also from a previous thread, applies to the processor performance
in general from the AMCC reference board and is NOT to be taken as a representation
of what "Samantha" is specifically capable of doing:

It's interesting to see how this little board has a memory speed access almost twice than the current AmigaOne boards

I wonder if Adam still considers a "stand-alone version" of the PV LT using a breakout box when something like Samantha is being released. Any news from Adam recently? (Agreed, I should try IRC sometime...).

Last report was that Adam was focusing quite a bit on his website.
No change in intent re:production was reported that I am aware of.

It can be hit or miss. Some days the developers speak, some days not.
And we do have the time difference, particularly in the case of the developers
in the U.S. and Canada vs those in Europe.
Heh! But no one really sleeps anymore anyway...

Even if this was the only hardware on the horizon, I wouldn't risk buying 1000 pieces of that chip when my target market is _only_ OS4.

Task that you have answered yourself alone.
Bye Boy!!

Tsk, tsk, tsk, you've long enough here to realise that your timeline is too exact. Complying with the true Amiga spirit, you should have skipped the last two words. And, on a side note, Hyperion should not have been metioned as they have stated over and over again that they are not involved in it.

I just edited it. You know, I would do anything to "comply with the true Amiga spirit".

Sorry, somehow I completely forgot that they sub-contracted another company for porting OS4 to x86.

No. Ikir said "he could ... if it would be possible". Unfortunately we won't see such beast before 3 or 4 years in the Amiga land

There's quite a few 440s to pick from but there's a comparison here.

440EP / EPx are the only ones with FPUs, but the SPe has much better I/O capabilities: 3 PCIe ports, L2 cache and better memory bus. SPe may be too expensive though for a low cost board.
