Hey guys and gals!

We're looking for the author of Amithlon to see if he would like to be on the show. Someone did post a lead on the AmiZed Website, but it turned out to not be the person we're looking for.

If anyone has any contact or knowledge of how we can get ahold of him, could you drop myself or Debaser an PM here and let us know?

We'd be real grateful.

Thanks all!

"Make Mine Miggy!"

@DiscreetFX

A lot of people log in and do their business here without checking their PMs.
I just received a PM response yesterday to a PM from 1 year ago...

Also, we are getting more and more threads like this...

Hypothetically speaking?

Please note the subject matter and the resolution of the thread.
You'll have to trust me on this one. Every day that goes by people are more and more hesitant to discuss things here (particularly those that know things).
Part of the reason is the thought always in the back of one's mind as to whether they are going to get dragged into this mess in one way or another.
Sadly, communications between all parties here, which had already reached a record new "low" in my book, continues to sink even lower with each passing day.

Forgot to send my daily thanks to the attorneys for truly NOT understanding the ancillary damage they are causing to everyone here.
It's all about dollars and cents, right?
Lessee...developers depressed, less motivation, less product, less future to look forward to regarding sales of those lost products. I gather intangible assets such as those that you can not measure in a present day profit and loss statement are not to be counted at the negotiating table.
Silly me...

Man, it's like the Butterfly Effect. I wanted to just get in touch with the guy.

I'm keeping my big trap shut from now on.

I can understand how someone could be jaded after all the hard work Bernie did only to see it go down the drain (Amithlon).

@MobbyG

Don't worry about it much, all you can do is work hard to make ART the best Podcast possible. You have put out the word, whether or not he contacts you is out of your control. You have many cool guests linded up though so it would be his loss. Maybe he is just busy and will get back to you later.

@MobbyG
I'm pretty sure that Bernie (aka umisef) will have seen this thread, so if he doesn't reply, then I'd guess that it's because he doesn't want to raise the Amithlon issue again, because he's not going to touch Amithlon again, but probably still gets loads of (unwanted) emails about it.

Still, I'd hope that he'd at least be polite enough to make a terse reply saying he's not interested (unlike SOME people I've emailed/PMed recently).

Bernie commented recently in another thread that Amithlon required extensive effort to get it back up to speed, a commitment that wasn't in the cards given his other priorities.

Bill: with recurring offers from DiscreetFX to acquire talent and technology have you ever approached Bernie? The issue most often is backing all of these ambitious plans with money.

@DiscreetFX

A shiny new x64 Amithlon is worth more to me than OS4 - I bet I`m not alone either.

Well, I'm not gonna push the topic. If Bernie wants to come on ART and talk about the time he was coding Amithlon, he has an open invitation.

'nuff said.

But that's just Amithlon right? It would still be running AmigaOS3.1+patches wouldn't it?

So, AmigaForever x64 still isn't up to the mark?

I don't think that anyone here (perhaps not even DiscreteFX) could afford to pay Bernie's salary to work on Amithlon for very long, unfortunately: He's real work is very highly paid (search Amiga World if you want to find out exactly how much), and I'm pretty sure he has indicated that he'd expect (something like) the same level of pay to work on Amithlon again.

@ChrisH and All,

Why would he or anyone work on Amithlon again if Amiga Inc. shuts it down again as an unauthorized product?

The problem here is that all of this is pure speculation. Bernie appears indifferent (and that's to be expected) but it would be good to know the amount of work and cost involved. With licensing issues and the development effort it may simply not be feasible.

Much of this also comes down to the emulation vs. native implementation issue. At this stage it may actually be more practical to port OS4 to x86.

And as far as cost is concerned, if Amiga pulled their collective heads out of their asses years ago they could have used Amithlon to generate significant revenue.

An annual salary compared to legal costs and jacking around with sponsorship scams? It's all a major joke.
