What machine did you run UAE on? WinUAE has QuarkTex.

I've explained it before:

- The NatamiFlight Game runs fluent on Natami.
- I believe thats its IMPOSSIBLE to run it fluently on any UAE system for the next years.

I have offered it before:
If you claim its possible to get it fluent on the OS of your choice THEN PROOF IT !
I offered you before to provide you with the data files.

Hammer,

But I know that YOU WILL DO NOTHING !
The only thing that you will do, is annoy people with you off-topic non- sense.
HAMMER : LETS FACE IT, YOU ARE NOTHING BUT A TROLL !

Its said that you can soils discussion with your constant trolling this AMIGA-forum.

@BigGun
Hammer is not a troll. You are not helping yourself here.

Please post a link to your code, I am sure it will be of interest to many people.

Also, please answer my question from before...

Just about everybody is complaining, demanding, moaning and in general turning the project down. No wonder Gunnar gets touchy a bit. On the other hand, no reason to get personal either.

@Krischan76
It is a shame that we are arguing about such a positive project. It would be nice to have some clearer information, as this should slow down the negative speculation.

Doesn't the NATAMi website provide a lot of information?

If you have HW question then I would recommend to use the contact on the NATAMI website.
I'm sure Thomas will try to answer most question in short time.

If you have a genuine question right now, you could post it.
I might be able to answer some questions too.

Cheers

@BigGun

I noticed on part of this thread that it iwll be shipping with OS3, i gather this means all the licencing issues have been delt with and approved by Amiga. Was this then one of the hardware line ups amiga mentioned in the past year.

Yes, the new NatAmi website is great, and has helped a lot.

@Krischan76

I remember the exact same thing happening at amiga.org when Dennis first started talking about his MiniMig. Amiga users are like crabs in a bucket on the kitchen floor, when one tries to climb out the other ones drag it back in.

Sorry but what issues? Put a "old stock" copy of OS3.x into the package or AmigaForever and you're done.

I also remember that when Dennis posted the news about his minimig he got heavily criticised by a few who didn't believe him.

Agreed. It's pretty obvious that Hammer is not going to be convinced, so just leave things be.

@Hammer

Dude, we get it. A 3GHz Core 2 Duo with a Radeon HD will beat a NatAmi at pretty much any benchmark. Why do you feel the need to rain on BigGun's parade? I mean, do you normally go over to mall Santas, pull off their beards and shout "see! it's just a guy in a suit!"

How much cpu time/percentage do you have left for the game logic? Games in recent years may eat tons of cpu resources for doing just stuff related to that. AI, physics, collision detection. That kind of stuff. On slow cpus like anything 68k that might already be too much even if you completely ignore/disable any video rendering/audio output.

I want to stand up for Hammer here, because as far as I can see the history behind the actions he has taken have been forgotten.

In the NATAMI thread, Hammer said...

The issue is with BigGun's open ended statements, not Natami per se.

So it's not about raining on anyone's parade, its about unneeded hype (unneeded because we are excited about NatAmi already). Read through this thread:
http://amigaworld.net/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=25243&forum=16

Its a long thread, but hopefully by the end you will see how both BigGun and Hammer have misinterpreted each other (and wound each other up).

Back to happy stuff now. You can talk about the possible audio capabilities of the NatAmi here:

I see... over excitement bumping into cynicism? I'll buy that.

About the audio topic, I'm 100% the wrong guy to talk to. I'm pretty much tone deaf.

Where did I state Natami Flight Game doesn't run smoothly on Natami?

Natami is not even questioned in my post.

It's a simple question. If it’s open source why not provide the link? Would it remain source compatible with AROS or does it hit the metal? One could build it like 3DMarks for any AmigaOS compatible systems.

Terrain displacement mapping demo on ATI Radeon HD 2000 series
http://ati.amd.com/products/radeonhd/demos/Tessellation.html
It's the same map for ATI's Ruby: Whiteout demo.

"The detailed geometry of the mountain range is generated on the fly using displacement mapping from a coarse base mesh.... In addition, the snow cover is generated procedurally, based on the slope of the generated geometry. "

I could port a terrain voxel (volumetric rendering and heightmap) engine and download high res maps, but this introduces insistencies in system benchmarking i.e. we are not running the same code and datasets. Volume rendering can be accelerated by the GPUs.

Displacement mapping also uses (procedural) texture or height map techniques. Unreal Tournament 3** uses this technique extensively.
**Any Unreal Engine3 based games like Mass Effect, Gears OF War and 'etc'.

In Microsoft's proprietary HLSL (High Level Shader Language), the displacement mapping is linked to "vertex-texture mapping" i.e. the values of the texture map do not alter pixel colors, but modify the vertices' position. This is one form of vertex/ geometry amplification.

For balance, Displacement mapping via OpenGL's GLSL (OpenGL Shading Language)

I said "sure" if you look back in the thread and been waiting ever since.

There's nothing inherently special about volumetric pixels.

One can replace 3GHz Core 2 Duo with a Radeon HD example with a Sony's PS3.

Do Amiga needs to compete with Apple’s reality distortion field (TM)? There's a fine line between hype about a product and being excited with a product. I’m sure you are aware of promise fatigue.

I’m open for any system to exist e.g. Nintendo’s Wii (i.e. T1-SRAM equiped gaming system) and it's unique way in approaching a problem. Affordable and usable FPGA based computer would be interesting.
