I'd say risk of failure went to 100% after you failed to do basic background research into that OEM. I almost did the same thing with a sub $500 laptop for AROS years ago. I ordered one myself and then did the background research to find the OEM was #### poor on delivery times and unable to reach anyone for warranty or technical support. I dropped that like a hot potato.

With Freescale shoving PPC into embedded only mode, that should be the final invite to the PPC funeral. Time to either port to x86 or ARM, which is where AROS and Anubis-OS are currently headed.

They got it wrong. They're saying it's ARM based.

Maybe they have it right? They could have switched to ARM since Freescale isn't touching PPC for consumer electronics anymore.

Just out of curiosity, any thought given to lowering your price, given the fact that Engadget, Liliputing, Ubergizmo, and most folks here have all said $500 is crazy? Not to mention the fact that with all that publicity, no one has bought even one unit so far.

Engadget has a very large readership. Not even one rich guy forking over the money yet is almost astonishing. (I think real photos rather than stock ones from Lime would help in this department though).

Hey I tried to make an AROS Asus Netbook thread to be a better replacement, and it died after like ten posts!

Quote:
China based Tsignhua Tongfang has experienced some difficulty in getting their Lime netbook into the United States, and so haven’t even bothered to turn up at CES for the past couple of years, and that’s probably why over the pond is still waiting on seeing the LimeBook netbook and LimePC UMPC. However, according to on user of eBay, Americans will pay virtually any amount of cash as long as it can be called a rare thing, as rare as the Lime OS LimeBook which just happened to be seen back in January in Las Vegas with a price tag of $500. That’s $500 for a 9 inch display Freescale powered netbook with 32GB SSD, 152MB DDR2 RAM. 1.3 megapixel cam, WiFi, and Linux Lime operating system.

The auction has shown up on a Russian technology news site as well:

Its a never ending story!
But at least the Russian translation was an improved revision, with interesting words like;
Quote:
nucleus Of linux

One day, similar attention should read:
Quote:
nucleus Of Amiga OS
Right!!!

If you have not read up on this already I suggest you do before giving these guys any more of your money. Just my advice though.

OK, nice links... Some History of real world ups and downs!
SIMPLE THINGS:
LimeBook != LimePC
LimeBook (NOT EQUAL TO) LimePC

Since those people have left, there have been several revisions and a new brand LimeBook etc... LimeBook is what we want to TEST and Q/A. That will costs money to verify if it's any good, for General Amiga Market.

BTW - Can you summarize the key points of those articles, in the post above, if you could please.

Kinda off topic, but I love the description of LimePC's other OS:

Quote:

We have another OS for your option, uBoxu.
You can choose it and get upgraded by its USB.

Every new OS should offer you the opportunity to be upgraded by its USB. All your base, on the other hand....

I'll do it for free using a quote from aboutjack.com.

"There is an adage that a great salesman can sell anything ... "

Does that about sum it up?

Then please tell us about the changes. The pcb of one or another device may have changed, but that is only a minor point. The key is the 5121 itself. One 5121 device is very similar to all other 5121 devices. The 5121 includes all peripherals.
But you "expert" may explain us how cache coherence is maintained or how Developers will get the PowerVR documentation to write a gfx driver or if LimeOS supports the AXE by now.
Well, I am still convinced you don't have the slightest clue about the hardware you want to sell/promote.
Go and get yourself informed about the 5121 b4 posting such crap here.

Now Now... Play fair. Its a saga, not a wave your wand a presto, episode.
An no Genie in a bottle either here!

Perhaps you can plan all these other thing, if you know what you're talking about.
Also explain how LimeOS is currently working on the system?
If you know about PowerVR documentation then how do you explain LimePC the company got the information?

I expect some decency and courtesy - as per the Terms of Service on this forum. We've had enough yelling and clowning around to last a few weeks.

@meet.mrnrg

After doing some research I've discovered that the manufacturers of the LimePC/LimeBook erroneously translated their sales brochures when they sent them off to print. The real real name of the product is the LamePC/LameBook. And just like this thread, they're pretty lame!
