I'm sure others have suggested the snake/serpent too, but the thread has just about become unmanageable in terms of finding quotes _________________ Troll - n., A disenfranchised former potential customer who remains interested enough to stay informed and express critical opinions. opp., the vast majority who voted silently with their feet. |

i finally figured out how to decode the enigma. Please, read carefully:
In the first row, second column, you have: lsc14a
In the second row, first column, you have: y3de3e5
in the third row, third column, you get: n0nc4p1
in the fourth row, first column, you have now: sc0uN
in the next row, fourth column, you have: c4v0|0
this till the 16° row....
so....
in the next row, fourth column, you have: c4v0|0
in the next row, fourth column, you have: c4v0|0
in the next row, fourth column, you have: c4v0|0
in the next row, fourth column, you have: c4v0|0
in the next row, fourth column, you have: c4v0|0
in the next row, fourth column, you have: c4v0|0
in the next row, fourth column, you have: c4v0|0
in the next row, fourth column, you have: c4v0|0
is here you have the surprise:
snore...snore...snore...snore...snore...snore... snore...snore...snore...snore...snore...snore... snore...snore...snore...snore...snore...snore... snore...snore...snore...snore...snore...snore... snore...snore...snore...snore...snore...snore... snore...snore...snore...snore...snore...snore... snore...snore...snore...snore...snore...snore... snore...snore...snore...snore...snore...snore... Ok. I think it is letters also.
X for the first clue.
Where Nemo flew into a rage was where the Nautilus attacked a slave ship leaving Africa.

-> slave chip (xena is a slave chip of the CPU?)
Was Nemo standing on a Bridge? Xena is a bridge chip like Buster? South bridge? but that was the ATI chip, was it not? Last edited by KimmoK on 04-Jan-2010 at 05:20 PM. Last edited by KimmoK on 04-Jan-2010 at 05:12 PM.

Just to emphasise, but I think everyone got this now:

| @Thread
Let's think about it...
-izable... surely is to be added to Custom, which makes Customizable.
"The Book of Laws" and a "New way to Parallel once tought to be lost". Why thinking in old history when we have Informatic History to help us?
Amiga, when first realized in 1984/85 was said to break several laws written in informatic books. Could this be the "Book of laws" the riddle is referencing to? Maybe this new baby is going to break again some informatic law?
Now follow me:
"New way to Parallel once tought to be lost"... What if we are going to have not just parallel operations (Preemptive multitasking) but also parallel processors/coprocessors working in parallel in the same way the Amiga used to do? I mean: imagine a multi core PPC working with a coprocessor as powerful as nowdays GPUs but with the same degree of integration Amiga has..
Now about the X, the unknown number of cores and the fact "we are going to tell the chipset what it is going to do"
Think about this new creation in a completely new way: what if EVERYTHING is customizable like if made with a FPGA.. no... wait TRANSMETA-like processor?
I imagine something like this: A central reconfigurable CPU (one of those things somebody described earlier in the thread, with all those units you can redirect and reconfigure as you wish) with a "customize me on the fly" coprocessor. Something that can be configured to be whatever you want.
I give you an example: You badly want to emulate a Play2 within the system? Why recompiling PCSX2 when you can recompile your chipset not to behave like a play2 but to BE a play2?
Got the idea?
Ok, now discard the useless play2 example.
And think about something like that:
Today you want to play Crysis. You tell your chipset to become a powerful 3D GPU with lots of Shaders and the like.
Tomorrow you want to do VideoEditing and the like. You tell the Chipset to become a video mixer HW.
Next day you want to do some fine digital audio editing? Let's tell your chipset to become a powerful DSP.
Alredy drooling?
Now imagine it being PART of the system: some sort of Chipset datatypes you can mix and match to create your custom Chipset on the fly (or on demand)...
Now return back to the Play2 example and start dreaming about the definitive computing machine that other than being a unique piece by itself can BE all the previous computing/gaming machines ever existed...
That's my vision of all this... your freedom to call me mad dreamer... but that's my vision of it.

The danger with any onboard hardware, "custom" or otherwise, is that it will be obsolete by next year. The XCore sounds really cool, but I'd still like to see support for OpenCL (or another language or API) on commodity stream processors.
EDIT: Fun reading on what Intel is playing with re: parallel processing: http://techresearch.intel.com/articles/Tera-Scale/1826.htm Last edited by Trev on 04-Jan-2010 at 05:29 PM.

Expanding on that post Xilinx do a HyperTransport interface... http://www.xilinx.com/support/documentation/application_notes/xapp639.pdf
So maybe that's what the xilinx chip we can see is and xena interface to/through/with thatLast edited by BinoX on 04-Jan-2010 at 05:28 PM.

| So this XCORE will handle some processing as well as i/o communications...inline with a PCIe card that has custom (ECS/AGA/68k) chips on it...including 8-bit Atari joystick ports? |
