@Derfs

I was not sure. As I said.
I did not remember that there were 2x2core G5s.
But I think 1x2core 2Ghz PA6T could be pretty good against 1x2core G5@2,7.

((And a lot more silent.))

btw G5 prices (for MOS porting ) http://lowendmac.com/deals/best-power-mac-g5-prices.html
And some specs: http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/powermac_g5/stats/powermac_g5_2.0_dp.html

So Varisys are the people behind the X1000!!!

If so, it could also mean that the Varisys board was sourced out rather than a custom design. This would be reassuring in many ways as it would mean greater volume, reduced costs and increased prospects for support/development.

rather decent 1.3Ghz G4 PowerPC PCI cards for x86 that would give a SAM a run

This would killer -- a solution for many people who would prefer an x86 solution over a dedicated box.

Also do you all remember that an Amiga was faster then a mac with the same CPU ? In 68k days...

Yup. We had countless flames on Apple-PL mailing list. Whoever got Amiga MC68060 in a signature was consider an enemy. Amiga was beating original Mac in all benchmarks (IIRC, even some old PPC601, my memory is fuzzy here, and I was never using Shapeshifter (OK, once, Secret of the Monkey Island in 256, YEAH)) and that was causing a lot of heat.

One could say we had same history in OS4/MorphOS on Pegasos benchmark thread.

"There's a small price to pay for this power. The 2.7 GHz Power Mac remains available for those who need PCI-X slots or can't wait for the Quad to ship in November, but the quad core 2.5 GHz model is from 20% to 75% faster according to Apple's tests."

OK, so Quad was 2.5Ghz, I was wrong. My bet would still stand. Also, we know that OS X is SMP aware, we still don't know what Hyperion is going to unleash on us.

Single core G5 are rather cheap, and since current verion of MorphOS can't do SMP there's no reason to buy something with multiple cores, that is, unless you'd utilize it under OS X. Also, there's no support of G5 computers, yet.

(Don't buy them, I saw few of them working and... it is so loud your ears would pop)

I checked Wikipedia about G5,and according to Wiki, the last batch of G5s used 90 nm process. I would think Titan or P.A Semi would use something like 65 or 45nm technics, and they are probably "fine tuned" to,and of course different in design than the G5.

Anyway. It will be the fastest Amiga ever produced And that is the important part

I dont believe there is even a 0.1% change of the PA semi chip happening, but even if that is running at 2GHz I think the same as you, it isnt going to beat it.

everyone can dream of pie in the sky, with a ibm power 520 express (well dont want to be silly and talk about the 595)

core by core, the pa semi will be sure more fast than a G5 core at the same clock speed

How many G5 machines out there? Can someone get a legal agreement with Apple to port it to no longer produced hardware?

Also, this great Mac computer series also presents use of G-Force cards.
Why there is no G-Force driver for OS 4.1 and beyond? Many great PCI and PCI-E cards exists at low and mid prices!

And what about two simple CPUs with
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PWRficient
and supporting it fully?

Its G5 folks, I see it as better product line then EP460 chips ....

How often has it been said alreadyy? But here we go for the n-th time: You don't need a f*cking agreement with Apple. They neither care what OS will get ported to their outdated maschines, nor could they take any influence on it.

No idea. I'm not a fan to have that stats handy. It was expensive machine, but still, tens of 1000.

Ugh, why should Apple care whatever you run on their hardware? That's how MorphOS has been ported. Apple legal team has no say what you run once you've bought hardware.

AmigaOS4 won't run on Mac. There was an independed effort by guy from ACube (someone correct me) and it produced something bootable that leaked (project Mona) but it was discontinued and Hyperion stated no ports are planned.

There's more docs on ATI chips, so it's easier to do one that goes above framebuffer.

No. It was not one of the 3 members of Acube.
You did say "correct me", right? Heh.

According to PASemi (RIP) its CPU (2 GHz) could score 1100 SpecInt2000 (integer performance) and 2255 SpecFp2000 (FPU performance) (Source)

For comparison:
970 2.2 GHz - 1040 SpecInt2000 and 1241 SpecFP2000
970MP 2.5 GHz - 1587 SpecInt2000 and 2119 SpecFp2000
Pentium 4 1.4 GHz - 512 SpecInt2000 and 590 SpecFp2000
Core 2 Duo E6600 2.4 GHz - 2563 SpecInt2000 and 2604 SpecFp2000
750GX 1 GHz - 466 SpecInt2000

@pavlor

Did you find any info about the Titan? All i could find was this -

http://www.power.org/devcon/07/Session_Downloads/PADC07_Chang_AMCC_Titan_V0_2.pdf

if you look at this pdf,you will find a picture of a cpu,but i don't know if this is how Titan looks like, but if it does,it does'nt look like the one found on the X1000 MB.

Back in the day IBM showed a Dual Core 601 / x86 CPU. That's what we could use. G4 + Athlon II both on a single die.
