I have completely missed this initiative and it sounds great so please tell a little more... |
It's not something I've made public. I started the scheme about 3/4 years ago in an attempt to encourage talented developers to create new Amiga software or port existing applications to OS4. Initially I contacted Eyetech to purchase Micro A1-C's. Unfortunately, despite receiving a quotation from Alan Redhouse I was not able to purchase new machines as Eyetech withdrew from the Amiga market. As a stopgap measure I began buying used A1/XE's and Micro A1-C's off eBay and AmigaWorld classified to supply to various Amiga developers.
I contacted Troika and ACube for supply of machines and obtained agreement from Hyperion-Entertainment that they would support my Hardware Loan/Donation initiative. I placed an order for 10 SAM440ep machines (retaining one for my own use ) as soon as they became available. The other nine system have been allocated to software developers under the Hardware Loan/Donation scheme. I have just concluded an additional agreement, in conjunction with ACube, to supply a 10th system to a French software developer. Under the terms of all of the Loan/Donation agreements the developer agrees to produce his/her OS4 software application within an agreed time frame. If the software task is completed on time the loan system converts to a donation and becomes the property of the developer. In some instance the time frame is extended to allow the developer more time to complete the project.
All loans/donations are controlled by the terms of the agreement to which the developer, myself and Hyperion are co-signatories.

Its an ppc version of x86 hw without anything new or extra. |
I was expecting an idiotic comment like it.
I have a SAM and probably i will not buy a new Amiga, but calling A1x1000 i nthat way just show your ignorance. This hw is designed from 0, cpu and also expansion board are very different from what the market offer. Go to play with your emulators and have fun._________________ ikir |

No, I wouldn't - as I posted, I'll care when the product is here. Up to now it isn't. _________________ X1000|II/G4|440ep|2000/060|2000/040|1000 |

Well, because it started years and years ago as a replacement case for the A1200 (mini tower box kind of shape) then the mini-itx SAM came out and I salvaged what I could from the original design to make sure the SAM fitted, then ACube (in their glorious wisdom) decided that a horizontal ATX connector wasn't a good idea so a more standard, vertical one was put into place but they forgot to solder the FPGA connector on mine!
I love ACube, I really do even though they drive me nuts sometimes!
then the flex came out...
Anyway who likes big switches? Last edited by TheDaddy on 11-Feb-2010 at 01:11 PM.
