I don't need to wait to see at this point it is Vapor. I'm not saying it won't come to be, but right now you can't even tell me the official CPU of this beast, so.....

Did you see Torchwood Children of Earth? I'm thinking A-EON will follow the example set by the 456.

Correct choice of the word "can't", not sure about the term "vapour" though.

The connotations inherent in the word "vapour" used in this context are of hardware which either
a) never existed beyond the marketing office, or
b) never got beyond the prototype stage
but, most importantly, will never exist beyond that stage.

If this is not your implication, then perhaps the word "prototype" may better suit.

Wouldn't happen to be moving onto some snappy, easy-to-remember domain name like, oh I don't know, like "www.amiga.com" would it?

@TrevorDick

A bit off topic I know. But could you just recap a little about this SAM440 donating system you have been supporting. Who has been giving a machine and what software can we enjoy as a result.

I have completely missed this initiative and it sounds great so please tell a little more...

Seems like five camps here.

1. Happy to wait and see.
2. Happy to wait and see, but like earlier commitments to be fulfilled (announcement / Site etc)
3. Those that want it all. NOW!
4. Those that doubt and question. EVERYTHING.
5. Meh.

I know which camp I sit in, and can identify individuals for the other camps too
All views are necessary to maintain a healthy forum. Imagine what this place would be like if only one camp ever posted!

We should all remember that a private company can manage their business in any way they see fit. We must also remember that this is a public forum and not a Hyperion/Aeon shop front or announcement site.
Consequently, anything that is posted here by them cant really be regarded as official or even fact...

Actually there's been some very good info in this thread. Most people have ignored it though.

Despite the pointless topic (at this point in time)...yes I must admit some good info came out here.
I was just refering to the thread "topic".

If it was June I would have jumped right in, discussing the ins and outs of the situation, but come on, it's early February do we need a Vapourware thread yet?

But alas never say never, even such ill worded topics might produce good info every once in a while (you know better than me that all the other times they just produce a flamewar).

Or perhaps one on "most useless board member ever" we'll use the following parameters:the guy must be someone that did not contribute more than 25 posts in 3 years, ignores how many useless and counterproductive discussions there have been due to flamebaits, but still cares to participate after a long time just to post a sarcastic comment on something that everyone can see (from the meager site historial) he really doesn't know what he's talking about.

Call it Vaporware on 3 months from today (middle May), not middle February!

And people, stop crying, X1000 is what most of us required, an ultra high end board running AOS. A hardware that will last a lot longer than Sam because the power, expandability, general hardware configuration (e.g. a dual core cpu will set the ground for smp) and some other cool factors (e.g. X).

This is also the kind of hardware that A1 users expected in order to upgrade, isn't it?

I believe that the price will be high, certainty a lot higher than Sam, but when demanding a custom ppc beast for such a niche market, you know that you will have to pay for it. There is no other option. Grow up.

You are funny. I personally give a sh** on what CPU is in it. I'll see when it's there. Total irrelvant information - in this stage.

Actually i believe there's more camps than the five you mentioned!
For example,
6.Those who are happy with what they got (Classic all the way)
7.Those that want a port of 4.x to everyday hardware (x86 and the likes)
8.Those that want nothing at all!

I could think of more, but what the heck...
