Hmm. I know the term "Amiga OS" a little longer - indeed behind me stands a package that says "Amiga OS 3.1" in big red letters. Inside are some disks and a place for a kickstart ROM. _________________ X1000|II/G4|440ep|2000/060|2000/040|1000 |

As far as I know, Workbench is only the Desktop part of AmigaOS. AmigaOS was never called Workbench.
Just like Windows is Windows and the part that would be Workbench is called a Desktop.

I've noticed they refer to themselves more as ADI than Amiga Dev India so no real worries there.
Like has been said no news since Sept 2006. _________________ 1 AmigaOne G4XE (OS4 Pre-Release Update4) Minimig Sam440ep + OS4.1FE Sam460cr + OS4.1FE |

Depends on the contracts they have made after the settlement, maybe they still get their 35$ for every AOS4 copy sold._________________ AmigaONE. Haha. Just because you can put label on it does not make it Amiga.

Why? Hyperion don´t need new contract with Amiga.Inc, September 30 Agreement is sufficient (and says that there are no licence fees for Amiga.Inc). Did you read this last Agreement?Last edited by pavlor on 28-Jun-2010 at 10:16 AM.

AFAIR my OS 3.1 box already has "Amigs OS 3.1"on it - will have to check when I'm back home..._________________ Ciao

In this case they said Amiga Disk OS, as DOS = Disk Operating System - so what? _________________ Ciao

Nahhh - I would rather say that Windows < = > Workbench and MS-DOS < = > DOS...
IIRC in the first Windows versions Windows just was a graphical extension sitting on top of the (Ms-)DOS...Last edited by Dandy on 28-Jun-2010 at 10:51 AM.

Which leads to the question, what is AI getting out of that deal? No one seems to want to touch that issue.

AI is happy just to sit back and watch others play with it's IP. It was happier being the owner of an OS that "potentially might have millions of users" rather than an "active OS with several hundred users." It wanted to be big, and so long as nothing happened the potential to be big was still there.
In the end that's the problem, McBill wanted to be Microsoft. In car terms he wanted to be Toyota but the Amiga market is more like Robin Hood Engineering Ltd... |
